Geoform 187 , better known as Ridley as well as the Cunning God of Death , is the main antagonist of the Metroid franchise.

He made his debut appearance in the very first game of the franchise and returned in almost every other entry. He is a large, dragon-like alien and one of the leaders of the Space Pirates , as well as Samus Aran 's arch-nemesis, having murdered her parents when she was just a toddler. Samus' deep hatred of Ridley is as strong as his hatred against her endless attempts to thwart his nefarious plans against civilization in the galaxy.

Ridley serves as the secondary antagonist of the original Metroid game, its remake Metroid: Zero Mission , the prequel manga, Super Metroid, Metroid: Other M (as a clone in the latter) and the Metroid Prime trilogy, a major antagonist in Metroid Fusion (in the form of the X-Parasite -enhanced Neo Ridley ), one of the overarching antagonists and the final boss of Metroid: Samus Returns , and a posthumous antagonist in Metroid Dread .

Ridley is a large alien draconic creature with some draconian traits (physiology) and is considered to be the leader of the Space Pirates stationed on Zebes, as well as being the supreme commander of the Space Pirate confederation. Highly intelligent, Ridley seems to have a great amount of hatred for the bounty
