Every second Austrian is facing financial difficulties
Gloomy results from the barometer by Santander Bank:
• 52% of Austrians report having money problems. 39% rate their financial situation as "rather tight", and 13% of respondents admit they struggle to cover their ongoing expenses;
• 40% of Austrians claim their financial situation has worsened compared to last year. Almost one insix poor souls cannot afford to save money. Only 9% of respondents are willing to make larger purchases (a new car or furniture);
• unexpected expenses, for example, of €1,000, would be a serious problem for a third of citizens – they would need to borrow money or take on short-term side jobs.
