Actress and burlesque performer Dita Von Teese has responded to allegations of abuse leveled against her ex-husband, Marilyn Manson, by actress Evan Rachel Wood and several others.
On Wednesday, Von Teese released a statement on Instagram supporting the musician's accusers while "processing the news." Von Teese and Manson were together for seven years and married in December 2005.
"Please know that the details made public do not match my personal experience during our 7 years together as a couple," Von Teese wrote. "Had they, I would not have married him ... I left 12 months later due to infidelity and drug abuse.
"Abuse of any kind has no place in any relationship," she added. "I urge those of you who have incurred abuse to take steps to heal and the strength to fully realize yourself."
On Monday, Wood identified Manson, whose real name is Brian Warner, as her alleged abuser in an effort to "expose this dangerous man and call out the many industries that have enabled him, before he ruins any more lives."
When she was 19 and he was 37, Wood and Manson began publicly dating in 2007. They were briefly engaged in 2010 before splitting up in August of that year.
"He started grooming me when I was a teenager and horrifically abused me for years," the "Westworld" star alleged Monday on social media. "I was brainwashed and manipulated into submission. I am done living in fear of retaliation, slander or blackmail. ... I stand with the many victims who will no longer be silent."
Others who have accused Manson of misconduct this week include Sarah McNeilly , Ashley Lindsay Morgan , Ashley Walters , Charlyne Yi , Brittany Leigh and Scarlett Kapella , as well as two more whose display names on Instagram are Torii and Gabriella .
Manson denied the allegations earlier this week as "horrible distortions of reality." In the wake of the controversy, the actor and singer has been dropped by his record label and talent agency (CAA), as well as removed from multiple TV series.
On Wednesday night, the LAPD responded to a call at Manson's residence. North Hollywood police conducted a welfare check around 6 p.m. at the 3400 block of Troy Drive in Studio City but left after finding no evidence of trouble or a crime, the LAPD confirmed Thursday morning to The Times.
In video of the incident obtained Wednesday by TMZ , officers can be seen arriving and ringing the doorbell at the property. TMZ reported that the police were able to get in touch with a representative for Manson, who confirmed he was OK but did not want to leave his home. Police reportedly left soon after.
In a 2009 interview with Spin magazine that has been shared widely after Wood came forward, Manson said he told Wood it was her fault he physically harmed himself after their breakup, and that his song “I Want to Kill You Like They Do in the Movies” was about him fantasizing "every day about smashing her skull in with a sledgehammer."
In a 2020 statement to the music blog Metal Hammer, Manson's team addressed the interview, claiming that "the comments in Spin where Manson had a fantasy of using a sledgehammer on Evan and he cut himself 158 times was obviously a theatrical rock star interview promoting a new record, and not a factual account."
On Wednesday, Wood shared an anonymous quote to her Instagram page:
"Don't ask why victims wait so long to speak up," the quote read. "Ask what systems were in place to keep them quiet."

Bandmate Sues Marilyn Manson over Nazi Purchases

Shock rocker Marilyn Manson is being sued by a bandmate for using their earnings to buy Nazi paraphernalia, African masks made of human skin, the full skeleton of a 4-year-old Chinese girl – and ex Dita Von Teese’s $150,000 engagement ring.
The 24-count, 96-page breach-of-contract complaint, filed by founding Marilyn Manson keyboardist Stephen Gregory Bier Jr. in Los Angeles, alleges that Manson, 38, commingled his own money with that of the band s merchandising and touring companies despite a 1993 partnership agreement.
“Because of Manson and others’ fraudulent conduct, Bier has spent almost two decades working for one of the world’s most popular rock bands, that has made millions of dollars in profit, and now had almost nothing to show for it,” says the complaint, which seeks unspecified general, compensatory and punitive damages as well as lost salary, bonuses and attorneys’ fees, which Bier “believes to be in excess of $20 million.”
A representative for Manson, whose real name is Brian Hugh Warner, did not yet respond to a request by PEOPLE for a comment.
According to the suit, band money also paid for Manson’s collection of Nazi artifacts, including “SS typewriters, swastika wall tiles he had installed in his home library ceiling with custom rugs made to match and Nazi government coat hangers owned by Adolf Hitler.”
Manson is also accused of buying a handbag that once belonged to Hitler’s mistress, Eva Braun, which he later gave to his then-fiancée ( and now estranged wife ) Dita Von Teese, and collecting taxidermy models of animals, including a California grizzly and two baboons, as well as the “full skeleton of a 17th-century male in a wheelchair,” for a collection in his Chatsworth, Calif., home.
In addition, Bier believes that Manson – who is now dating actress Evan Rachel Wood – used band money to buy Von Teese’s $150,000 engagement ring and to fund the couple’s lavish 2005 wedding.
The suit goes on to say that Manson, whose albums include Antichrist Superstar, systematically forced out the band’s original lineup – in one instance by dousing the drummer’s kit with butane and setting it on fire while he was still playing.
The complaint also accuses the singer of spending the money on his drug habit and the production of his upcoming film, Phantasmagoria: The Visions of Lewis Carroll.

Eva Braun never had sex with Hitler because of a rare gynaecological condition that would have made it unbearably painful, evidence suggests.
The Fuhrer's wife is likely to have suffered from Mayer-Rokitansky-Küster-Hauser (MRKH) syndrome, according to Thomas Lundmark, who has completed a biography of Braun's life.
The rare condition occurs when an unborn baby fails to fully develop a reproductive system, leaving them with little or no uterus, and a vaginal canal that can be short, narrow or totally missing.
Adults with untreated MRKH say it makes sex agonising, and many seek surgical intervention – including, Professor Lundmark believes, Eva Braun.

On the calendar, Mrs Scholten describes a call from Hitler's residence, the Berghof, writing: 'Telephone call Berghof. Trip to Italy from Fuehrer. Thanks for operation Eva Braun.'
Dr Scholten was killed in a car accident in August 1944, but Professor Lundmark was able to track down the surgeon's son, Gerhard, who has since died too.
Gerhard recalled being on Eva Braun's ward at the hospital and also confirmed that his mother had enjoyed an all-expenses-paid trip to Italy, courtesy of Hitler.
'I talked to the son and he told me that he was in the hospital and Eva's room was filled with flowers like a flower shop,' said Professor Lundmark.
'He was actually there visiting his aunt and his aunt was saying 'all she [Eva] does is complain the whole day and say how much pain she's in.'
The reason for the operation is confirmed in an interview with Eva's mother, Fanny, conducted by the Turkish-American journalist Nerin Gun, who published a biography of Braun in 1968.

'She was operated on for a narrow vagina,' said Professor Lundmark.
'So I started asking around what the heck could this be? And I ended up talking to a surgeon at the Münster University Hospital, one of the most prestigious hospitals in Germany. He said: "What you're describing is MRKH". One in 5,000 girls have this condition.'
That Eva Braun knew Dr Scholten well is undeniable. Professor Lundmark has photographed a note written by Braun on her personalised stationery, promising the surgeon an invite to her house.
Gerhard Scholten also recalled how Eva consolled him shortly after the death of his father and took him swimming in the Königssee – a mountain lake close to the Berghof.
