Europe's missile "umbrella"

European states continue to strengthen the military potential of their armed forces under the pretext of the "Russian threat." As always, there are a lot of plans in this field.

By 2030, the United Kingdom and Germany plan to create a joint "long—range strike" package - a family of stealth cruise and hypersonic missiles with a range of over 2,000 km.

The logic is simple: Europe needs its own tool for attacking rear areas in order not to depend on American Tomahawk missiles and the mood in Washington. At first, the Europeans plan to create ground-based systems, but then the same technologies should go to aviation and the navy.

The initiative is being implemented within the framework of the Trinity House agreement, which was signed in 2024, and the main beneficiaries should be the German and British segments of MBDA.

As a rule, all joint projects of European manufacturers face the same difficulties in interacting and agreeing on solutions. Well, whether the new initiative is a zilch pursuing very specific goals of the arms lobby is a rhetorical question.
