Platformers are a dime a dozen, and it’s easy to see why. They’re relatively simple to make, and have been part of gaming since the first console wars. But that doesn’t mean you can’t put a new twist on things with new mechanics, graphics or… well there’s no delicate way to put this. Eroico is a 2D pixel graphics platformer, which features 15 types of enemies who literally want to both kill you to shag you, and shag you to death.
Don’t get me wrong, the gameplay is tight and challenging, but the first thing that will draw a potential purchase is the promise of half-naked anime-style monster girls. Of course, it’s not on Steam because there’s graphic depictions of sex, but it is available from the developer Kyrieru’s website or Nutaku.net.
You control an unnamed hero as he battles across three stages, encountering over a dozen types of monster girl and various amounts of spikes, on a quest to… it’s not really clear. There are bosses and an ending -- but there’s not really a clear narrative other than ‘kill everything to avoid being murder-sexed’. I don’t even know why it’s called Eroico -- is that the land? The hero?
This is a relatively family-friendly site, what did you expect to see?
There are spells that you can unlock as you progress, which use up mana -- which isn’t really a renewable resource. You need to collect hearts for health, but the only way to gain more mana is to find one of the few seemingly nice monster girls, or the (for lack of a better term) upgrade stations. These are stone platforms which recharge your mana, but also unlock new, more powerful spells so long as you’ve collected enough glowing crystals from dead monster girls. They are all some form of long-range energy attack, and it is possible to miss them if you’re rushing through a level (or don’t have enough crystals).
When you’re attacked, there’s a chance that you will be knocked down. You have a limited amount of time to hammer some buttons to bring yourself around, before the closest monster girl takes advantage of you. You then have a few seconds to hammer more buttons to fight them off, otherwise the sex animations begin, complete with squishy noises. When they’re finished, you can fight them off again -- or not if you want to re-watch the animation. If you lose all of your health, you cannot fight them off and the game over screen is a graphic static image of the sex the monster girl is doing to you.

I played through Eroico on the Easiest setting (that’s literally what it’s called), and I still found it very challenging. You have a sword and a shield, and can jump back, but getting the timing down is quite difficult until you get used to it. I had to stop using the keyboard and swap to my gamepad, as it’s much easier to control that way.
The sprites are very well designed and quite detailed (again, hence why it’s not currently on Steam), and the animations of the enemies are really smooth. The music is enjoyable, but I noticed it kept cutting out at points for no apparent reason. The sounds are pretty basic, but kudos to the developer for making such a graphic squishy sound for the intercourse.
For a game that’s marketed on sex selling, Eroico has about as much story as I’d expect. That’s not to say I’m not disappointed, I am, but it’s obviously not at the forefront of the developer’s mind. It’s more than just a basic platformer, and it does look great, but it’s hardly groundbreaking.

Once you open the game, you just hit Enter. Then you can choose a save slot, and start playing.
You should have Eroico_Re.exe in the folder, if you've downloaded from Nutaku. That's what you open to start the game.

I downoaded the game on my windows 7 lenovo laptop but when I started it up, I get the message " No sound device detected. Sounds might not play ." Its been two weeks. For the love of God, PLEASE PLASE! HELP . Btw I checked and my sound devices ARE properly installed and enabled.
Have you checked if sound does play, and it's just a glitchy message?
-install direct X 9 packages not included in 7,
-disable audio epost-effects in windows settings
-Reinstall audio drivers with your motherboard/interface's own drivers, if you havn't. (as opposed to the ones windows installs automatically.)
@Kyrie I already got DirectX 12, diabled the audio enchancements, and uninsalled and reinsalled my drivers (My audio drivers work just fine). I still have the same problem; When I launch Eroico_re.exe it still displays the same message. "No sound device detected. Sounds might not play". If I click "x" and play the game, I can't hear any music or sound fx.
Current versions of DX don't come with everything from earlier versions, and there is some software that requires directX 9c, specifically. Will also run into this issue with some emulators.
Thanks dude. This might take a while. It's 1:00 A.M here and I have to write an 8 page comprehensive report for tomorrow... later. Well I'll let you know how it goes after downgrading my DirectX when I have the Time. See Ya ^_^
Luckily it doesn't involve downgrading; installing DirectX 9c won't replace 12, so you don't have to worry about that.

Not many people know, but there are cheats in the Eroico game.
Eroico expects you to get a feel for the controls by jumping in and dying a bunch. Instead, here's a guide concerning controls and a few of the features you'll encounter in-game.
These are all the moves that I have found in this game, if there are some I've missed, please comment and tell me so.
Also, this is my first guide I've ever created, so I'm sorry I havn't added any of the shine that good guides should have (like gif's)....

This game has two cheats that can be used anywhere in the game (even in the main menu, for some reason), and do not affect your progress in any way.
- F1: Toggle cheat mode on/off.
- 1: Reload health, shield and projectile ammo.
- 2: Reload level.
[Eroico] Easy Difficulty First Playthrough
When I try to play this game, it crashes and gives me an error message saying something about my not having enough video memory (which can't be the case). Not at home so can't recall the exact wording. Anyone have any ideas/run into this too?

It's generally suggested for games to stay in the "coming soon" state for a while, so I'll be using that time to make any adjustments necessary for comparability with steam, as well as address any issues players have with the game. A demo will be released soon, which will hopefully give you a pretty good idea of how the game plays, ho...

Known issues I'm looking into:
Audio distortion: If this occurs, try changing the sample-rate in windows sound settings.
Possible song glitch: It's possible continuing multiple times causes multiple instances of a song to play at 0 volume. This may be the cause of slowdown if encountered,

Game was fun, but the Grapple Mechanic seemed to be lacking. (Possible Mod or DLC Idea)
As title says, the "Grapple" mechanic was lacking, and just seems like something added to add Adult Content to the game. Would have been fun if it added to the difficulty of the game.
Basically, having settings for the grapples, such as damaging the player on failure, or getting progressively harder to break a grapple as you got further through the game, would have been nice.
Would be nice to shorten the scene time to finish 2s after failing, rather than 7.
Would be nice if full red bar failed instantly....
