Erik Satie (1): 一个奇怪的人

十月是很适合听Satie的日子，天气转凉，日照时间缩短，阴天变多，再加上万圣节的spooky氛围，Satie略微有些惆怅，有些神秘诡异，又有些诙谐的音乐再好不过了。

Erik Satie（中文一般翻译为萨蒂，1866-1925），是位法国作曲家。不过按照他自己的说法，他不是composer，也不是musician，而是Phonometrician，大概翻译是”衡量声音的人“。

作为一个作曲家，他在音乐史上不算名声响亮，作品也多为钢琴小品，并没有涉足登上作曲家名人堂所需的大型作品，诸如协奏曲，交响乐等等。他的履历也毫不耀眼，年轻时进入了Paris Conservatorie但是被老师评价为“最懒的学生”而两次被劝退，不过40岁又重返学校（Schola Cantorum de Paris）算是最终完成了训练，主要学习的是counterpoint的技法。在他音乐生涯中，大多数时间是作为酒吧钢琴伴奏为生（cabaret pianist）。虽然如此，他与达达主义和超现实主义运动联系紧密，和毕加索，尚·考克多一起创造了芭蕾舞剧Parade，启发了德彪西走向印象派，影响了非常多法国年轻的作曲家，比如Ravel，Poulenc等等， 也为之后的艺术运动带来了巨大的影响，比如极简主义(Minimalism)，重复音乐 (Repetitive Music)，荒诞派戏剧(Theatre of the absurd)等。他还创造了Furniture Music，可以理解为现在的Background Music，也算是间接影响了现在的电影游戏配乐了。

Satie生活中真的是一个怪人，他从不让人进他的房间，去世之后朋友进他的房间发现他窗户脏到打不开，房间里有超过100把雨伞还有好多手帕。而且即使有这么多雨伞，下雨天的时候他会把雨伞放在自己大衣下面保证不淋湿……不知道真实与否，还是在开玩笑，他在他的自传中写道：

I rise at 7:18; am inspired from 10:23 to 11:47. I lunch at 12:11 and leave the table at 12:14. A healthy ride on horse-back round my domain follows from 1:19 pm to 2:53 pm. Another bout of inspiration from 3:12 to 4:07 pm. From 4:27 to 6:47 pm various occupations (fencing, reflection, immobility, visits, contemplation, dexterity, natation, etc.). Dinner is served at 7:16 and finished at 7:20 pm. From 8:09 to 9:59 pm symphonic readings (out loud). I go to bed regularly at 10:37 pm. Once a week, I wake up with a start at 3:19 (Tuesdays).

My only nourishment consists of food that is white: eggs, sugar, shredded bones, the fat of dead animals, veal, salt, coconuts, chicken cooked in white water, moldy fruit, rice, turnips, sausages in camphor, pastry, cheese (white varieties), cotton salad, and certain kinds of fish (without their skin). I boil my wine and drink it cold mixed with the juice of the Fuchsia. I have a good appetite, but never talk when eating for fear of strangling myself.

他还对神秘主义和宗教十分感兴趣，年轻时，他加入了玫瑰十字会（Rosicrucian Order），是他们的常驻作曲家，谱了不少曲子比如Le Fils des étoiles（The Son of the Stars）一类。和玫瑰十字会闹僵了之后，他创办了自己的宗教Église Métropolitaine d’Art de Jésus Conducteur (Metropolitan Church of Art of Jesus the Conductor)，不过教派里只有他一人。

Satie的奇怪也体现在他的音乐创作上，一般作曲家的作品名字大概都是XX Concerto No.X 之类的，他的作品名字感觉完全可以作为现代艺术作品名，诸如Gymnopédies（裸体歌舞，有种说法说原指古希腊男子跳的一种裸体的仪式舞蹈，但这个词是完全杜撰出来的），Trois morceaux en forme de poire (Three pieces in the form of a pear， 但其实有七首作品哈哈哈哈，这套曲子是他回应德彪西对他“缺乏形制”的批判)，Choses vues à droite et à gauche (sans lunettes) (Things seen to the right and to the left (without glasses)等等。他还喜欢在自己的谱子上写非常奇怪的注释，比如前几天分享的Vexations前面写到，”Pour se jouer 840 fois de suite ce motif, il sera bon de se préparer au préalable, et dans le plus grand silence, par des immobilités sérieuses”，翻译为：In order to play the theme 840 times in succession, it would be advisable to prepare oneself beforehand, and in the deepest silence, by serious immobilities，更有一些完全不知道如何操作的指示，比如Gnossienne 3里的de clairvoyance (arm yourself with clairvoyance), 和在作品最后的”Ouvrez la tête” (open the head)。
