Entry-Level Data Analyst
Digital nomads. Work from anywhereCompany: Blue Oak Consulting
We are adding an Entry-Level Data Analyst to our team to support a Swedish financial technology group as it expands its operations. This role is focused on verifying the financial assumptions that drive growth and ensuring the data reflects the reality of the business.
About Blue Oak Consulting
Blue Oak Consulting provides independent advisory on pricing, portfolio economics, capital allocation, and acquisition assumptions. We are not a traditional consulting firm focused on broad transformation programs or high level strategy decks. Instead, we interrogate specific commercial decisions where the financial stakes are high and the existing narrative is not sufficient. Our team looks past corporate language and P&L complexity to identify where value is leaking or capital is trapped. We work across sectors like software, manufacturing, and healthcare to test whether the assumptions behind a growth plan or an acquisition actually hold under pressure. We are a small, principal led firm where the people who do the work are the ones accountable for the results. We do not take transaction contingent fees, which allows us to be completely honest about whether the economics of a decision make sense. Our goal is to provide clarity through financial discipline and a healthy amount of skepticism. We stay through the execution phase because decisions that look sound in theory often fail when they meet real world friction.
The Role
In this role, you will be part of a distributed team working directly with senior advisors to analyze customer data and financial models. Since we operate as a fully remote firm, you will have the autonomy to manage your tasks while checking in regularly for feedback. The work is not about creating pretty slides: it is about getting the numbers right and questioning the logic that leads to a particular investment or pricing decision. You will spend your time digging through transaction records and cohort data to see if the Swedish fintech group expansion plans are supported by the actual behavior of their users.
What You Will Be Doing
* Extracting and cleaning data from various financial systems to prepare it for analysis.
* Building simple financial models to test how changes in pricing or customer churn affect the bottom line.
* Reviewing historical data to identify trends that might contradict the current management narrative.
* Participating in internal calls to discuss findings and refine hypotheses about the business.
* Organizing large datasets into clear, logical structures that senior principals can use for their advisory work.
* Monitoring key performance indicators for the Swedish fintech group as their new services go live.
* Documentation of the logic used in our models to ensure that our conclusions are defensible and transparent.
* Assisting with the preparation of internal reports that highlight financial discrepancies or risks.
What You Bring
* A university degree in finance, economics, mathematics, or a related field with a strong quantitative component.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including the ability to use lookups, pivot tables, and logical functions.
* A natural curiosity and a willingness to ask questions when the data does not seem to make sense.
* Strong attention to detail, as small errors in a data set can lead to incorrect conclusions.
* The ability to communicate findings clearly in writing without relying on unnecessary jargon.
* Comfort working in a fully remote environment where proactive communication is necessary.
* Basic familiarity with data visualization tools or a willingness to learn how to represent data visually.
* A disciplined approach to problem solving and the ability to stay focused on complex tasks.
What We Offer
* A fully remote work arrangement that provides flexibility in how you manage your day.
* Direct mentorship from senior principals who have extensive experience in financial advisory.
* Exposure to real world commercial problems that go beyond what is taught in a classroom.
* A culture that values evidence and logic over hierarchy or office politics.
* Competitive pay that is attractive for an entry level professional in the current market.
* Regular opportunities to review your work with experts and improve your analytical skills.
* The chance to contribute to high stakes projects for an expanding international fintech group.
Working at Blue Oak Consulting means being part of a team that cares more about the truth of a financial case than keeping a client comfortable. We believe that clarity is the most valuable thing we can provide, and that clarity starts with disciplined data work. You will see how your analysis directly informs the advice we give and how that advice changes the way companies operate. It is a demanding environment because we hold ourselves to high standards, but it is also one where early career professionals can skip the busywork and focus on meaningful financial analysis.
