ENGLISH-TAUGHT LEADING DISCIPLINES UNDERGRADUATE PROGRAMS

Xi'an Jiaotong University (XJTU), founded in 1896, is a national key university directly under the administration of China's Ministry of Education. As one of China's top ten research-intensive universities and a member of the C9 League—China's equivalent of the Ivy League—it operates as a comprehensive research university, encompassing 11 major disciplinary categories, including science, engineering, medicine, economics, management, humanities, law, philosophy, art, education, and interdisciplinary studies. Nearly 4,000 international students from over 130 countries and regions are currently pursuing their studies at XJTU. In 2013, the university was designated by China's Ministry of Education as a “Demonstration Base for International Education”. In 2024, XJTU achieved the highest rating of Class A+ in the re-certification of higher education quality for international students in China. In the 2025 Shanghai Ranking’s Academic Ranking of Chinese Universities, XJTU secured the 10th position.
01. Program Introduction
Since 2025 application season, XJTU has launched four English-taught Leading Disciplines Undergraduate Programs:
Intelligent Manufacturing Engineering (provided by School of Mechanical Engineering which ranked #1 in the 2025 U.S. News Best Global Universities ranking);
Electrical Engineering & Automation (provided by School of Electrical Engineering which ranked #1 in the 2023 Shanghai Ranking’s Global Ranking of Academic Subjects);
Energy and Power Engineering (provided by School of Energy and Power Engineering which ranked #4 in the 2025 U.S. News Best Global Universities Energy and Fuels subject ranking);
Materials Science and Engineering (provided by School of Materials Science and Engineering which ESI ranking is in the global top 1‰).
These English-taught Leading Disciplines Undergraduate Programs provide high-level training, international learning environments, advanced laboratories, and strong industry connections—preparing students for global careers or further studies. Program students will also benefit from extensive career resources which include internship opportunities at leading companies such as Huawei, BYD, and State Grid, as well as global employment prospects. Furthermore, as a Washington Accord accredited institution, our program degrees are accredited in 58 member countries, enabling graduates to pursue advanced studies or professional careers directly in nations including the United States, United Kingdom, and Australia.

Intelligent Manufacturing Engineering
With the rise of Industry 4.0, this program integrates robotics, automation, and digital manufacturing, preparing students to lead in intelligent production, industrial design, and high-tech innovation sectors.
Energy and Power Engineering
As one of XJTU’s strongest fields (Top 3 worldwide), the program focuses on sustainable energy, power systems, and innovative energy technologies. Graduates are highly sought after in the fields of renewable energy, smart grids, and energy management.
Electrical Engineering and Automation
Globally ranked and widely recognized, this program covers electronics, control systems, and automation engineering. It opens career pathways in power systems, telecommunications, AI-driven automation, and international engineering projects.
Materials Science & Engineering
Ranked among the top globally, this program emphasizes advanced materials research and applications, equipping students for careers in aerospace, electronics, renewable energy, and high-tech manufacturing.

Eligibility
1.Applicants must be non-Chinese citizens with valid ordinary passports;
2.Applicants must be in good health;
3.Applicants should have high school diploma or above and be under 25 years of age （for degree students）/ 45 years of age (for visiting students）；
4.Applicants must possess relevant academic background and basic English proficiency (IELTS 6.0, TOEFL 80, or Duolingo English Test 110 (or above).
03. Application Procedure
1.Log in to the Xi'an Jiaotong University online application system: http://isso.xjtu.edu.cn/recruit/login;
2.Select the "Undergraduate Program-English-taught Leading Disciplines Undergraduate Programs " (for degree Students)/"Visiting Scholar program—English-taught Leading Disciplines Undergraduate Programs (for Visiting Students)"；
3.Complete the online application form, and upload all the required documents as instructed by the system；
4.Click submit to complete the application.

Visiting Students：October 1-December 31 (Spring Semester)
October 1-June 30 (Fall Semester)
Degree Students：October 1-June 30 (2026 Fall Semester)
