Position Summary 

The C5 + ONE (Opening Networks through English) Resource Teacher will work in a team with other Lead and Resource Teachers on this new project that supports English for special purposes (energy and environment) for young professionals throughout Central Asia and will report to the Bishkek-based Program Director. The Lead Teacher be supported by American Resource Teachers to provide training and mentoring to program teachers to deliver English for special purposes programming. 

Responsibilities 

• Select, train, and mentor teachers serving as English for special purposes instructors in assigned country/countries in collaboration with American Resource Teachers;

• Represent the program with the U.S. embassy, local employers and U.S. companies engaged and the field of energy and the environment in Central Asia;

• Conduct observation and teaching support with students and teachers through classroom visits;

• Support the C5+ONE program by implementing professional development activities for instructors;

• Travel within the country where the teacher is based, and to other countries in the region for to participate in training;

• Assist in planning and implementing national and region-wide workshops and conferences;

• Support the content development and integration of English for special purposes (energy and the environment) component of the program. 

Qualifications 

• A master’s, Ph.D., or equivalent graduate-level degree in TESOL, Applied Linguistics, English for special purposes, or a related field;

• Minimum of five years' teaching experience in a TESOL-related field;

• Demonstrated experience conducting English language teacher professional development;

• Demonstrated commitment to the field of English language teaching;

• Flexibility and freedom to work for two years with occasional domestic and international travel;

• Flexibility to work on weekends and evenings, when needed;

• Citizen of a country in which individual applies to work or eligibility to work in that country;

• Cross-cultural sensitivity. 

Compensation

American Councils for International Education offers a competitive international salary based on Tashkent, Uzbekistan cost of living standards.
