EXCLUSIVE: Following a week where she landed the Golden Globe and Critics Choice Award for her portray of Princess Diana in Netflix’s The Crown, rising star Emma Corrin looks to have found a feature to follow that role up with. Sources tell Deadline Corrin is in negotiations to star in 3000 Pictures’ Lady Chatterley’s Lover, which will be directed by The Mustang helmer Laure de Clermont-Tonnerre.
Life of Pi scribe David Magee wrote the script. Academy Award nominee Laurence Mark and Academy Award nominees Pete Czernin and Graham Broadbent of Blueprint Pictures are producing.
Based on the classic D.H. Lawrence novel, a story well ahead of its time, we follow the life of Lady Chatterley, a woman born to a life of wealth and privilege, who soon finds herself married to a man that she eventually falls out of love with. Lady Chatterley engages in a torrid affair with a gamekeeper on their English estate, discovering more desire and intimacy than she thought possible. When she realizes that she has fallen heart and soul, she breaks all traditions of the day and seeks happiness with the man she loves.
Marisa Paiva and Nikki Cooper are the executives overseeing the project for 3000 Pictures.
Though she will only portray the late Princess of Wales for one season, Corrin certainly left her mark with critics and audiences alike for her powerful portrayal of Diana and her recent accolades prove it. On the film side, she also will be seen opposite Harry Styles in My Policeman, based on the novel of the same name. She most recently appeared in Misbehaviour, starring Keira Knightley, Keeley Hawes and Gugu Mbatha-Raw.

Get ready to be scandalized all over again, so-called fancy society: According to Deadline, D.H. Lawrence’s Lady Chatterley’s Lover is getting a new adaptation from The Mustang’s Laure de Clermont-Tonnerre and Life Of Pi screenwriter David Magee, with Emma Corrin (fresh off of starring in The Crown, which also scandalized fancy British society) starring. The original book, published back in the ‘20s, is about an upperclass British woman whose cold and neglectful husband is paralyzed from the waist down due to a war injury, forcing her to seek solace in the arms of a lover (in the parlance of the title) who happens to be a regular working class dude.

The Academy Museum of Motion Pictures is assembling a star-studded cast for its opening gala in September. Italian screen legend Sophia Loren and independent filmmaker Haile Gerima will be honored with special awards, and Tom Hanks, Annette Bening and Bob Iger are being saluted for their efforts to raise $388 million for the long gestating museum, the organization said Monday.
