H thinks h is a career-driven gal who rejected love and life with him. Where would we be in HPlandia if not for the Great, Terrible, Big, Misunderstanding? My favorite character in this was actually the H's mom, founder of the company and one of those Great Dames no doubt inspired by the likes of Estee Lauder. I kept picturing Barbara Stanwyck sitting at the conference table, lording it over her feuding kids, coolly assessing the h as she auditioned for her discriminating eyes. The romance was okay. H started out pretty strong, an Alpha male who doesn't mince words and handles the h pretty roughly because of course, he has preconceived notions of what she is a.k.a. a big fat slut! You know, because MODEL. But he melts pretty fast and after that becomes less ruthless, more sappy. h was honestly a hot mess. I laughed out loud at her diva antics on the modeling shoot that made Mariah Carey seem like a reasonable, level-headed accountant. I initially had sympathy for her as she tried to assert her independence from her ultra-controlling stage mom and Svengali-like ex fiance, but her lack of professionalism, unstable emotional state and temper tantrums made me reconsider because it seemed like she did, after all, need "handlers." The story overall was okay, on the sappy side for me, and I have never terribly loved it when the girl is pursuing the guy, but it was interesting and well-written.

Re Fantasy -- ED must have been hanging out with Sally Wentworth and Penny Jordan for this one. I suspect that at this time in their writing career they are still experimenting with various character types. While the H in this one is nice and pretty amiable for the most part, the h could substitute in a PJ or SW with no problems at all. The h pretty much cries at the drop of a hat. Not that some rotten things did not happen to her, but srsly I don't think anyone could be around her without carry

Not that some rotten things did not happen to her, but srsly I don't think anyone could be around her without carrying emergency xanax and a triple box of tissues to handle her hysterics, and she seems to have a LOT of hysterics. The h is 22 and has a show biz mum, she is a model and has a fiance who is her photographer, they are rising stars and always booked as a pair. The h goes to the fiance's home unexpectedly one evening, and finds him in bed with another man. Since homosexuality has never been heard of in HPlandia until Vanessa James snuck it in the cellar door, the h is shocked and takes off for the beach. There she throws herself into the water, (maybe contemplating suicide, but I gave the benefit of shock,) she is rescued by the H and he isn't too happy. Well not until she dries off anyways, and then explains her situation. The H invites her to stay on for a while, cause she is hot. The H acts like he doesn't recognize her at first, they become very close and after a big seduction scene on the beach, the H admits he knows who she is and they part. Her thinking he doesn't love her and him thinking she is putting a career ahead of his love. The h gets back town, stands up to her overbearing mum and the now ex fiance and tries to get jobs without the ex. She doesn't have much luck until she gets an offer from a big cosmetics company. Near the end of her rope, she goes to the interview and finds out it is the H offering her the job to launch a new perfume. She angstily cries over unrequited love, but she wants the job and so the commercial filmings begin. The H's sister is the evil OW in this case, (I know she was related, but she sure acted like the evil OW throughout the book,) and is horribly mean to her and adamantly against using an "unknown". The h gets stuck in a recreation of the Big Beach Seduction scene, except this time it is for a commercial and the partner isn't the H, but a slimy lecher model dude. The h cries again and isn't doing too well at acting until the H shows up and she can moon from afar. The slimy lecher model dude gets really handsy and the h has hysterics, so the H steps up for the cause and is her partner for the shoot. There is more h crying and mooning from afar, the H doesn't look real happy either and the sister is witchy, but at least the commercials get done. Then there is a big launch party and the H is with another woman, (who is going to be the h in the next book actually,) the h cries about that too, and then finds out the OW is actually a big singing star who is doing the music and the H isn't dating her. Finally the H's mum has had enough of this nonsense and bullies the h into a love confession. Since she knows her kid well, she sends the h after the H and they wind up explaining away the misunderstanding when he says he loves her and she says she wanted him not a career. Rainbows glow, kitten's purr and the h's tears have sprouted an entire garden of flowers and all is well until the next time in HPLandia. This one isn't bad, if you can handle the soggy h. The H is nice and the h is nice when she isn't hysterically crying.

Fantasy is a great oldie by Emma Darcy. The story opens with the heroine, Eve, a fashion model, anxious to arrive home and see her fiance. She gets the shock of her life when she catches him in bed with another man and is crushed! Despondent, Eve tries to drown herself in the ocean, but the hero is there to save her. She gets the shock of her life when she catches him in bed with another man and is crushed! Despondent, Eve tries to drown herself in the ocean, but the hero is there to save her. He also gives her a nice boost to the old self esteem to show her that, no matter what her fiance thinks, she's still a desirable woman. :) Later again they meet and it's revealed that the hero is an important businessman whose company is releasing a perfume called "Fantasy." He's in charge of the ad campaign and naturally demands Eve to be the face of Fantasy. He's in charge of a beach photo shoot where the heroine is supposed to pose erotically with a creepy male model. She keeps freezing up, so the hero comes in and takes his place. The heat is off the charts and Eve can't deny her attraction anymore or dismiss it as just a momentary lapse into madness. I read this one a couple of times, and it's such a sweet, cheesy read. I don't care if the plot is a little unbelievable. This is just the kind of story a Presents should be all about: some sexy little fantasy that makes you smile, not want to throttle the douchey hero for being a dominant ass. Lucky for us readers, the hero is a dream! Eve's fantasy becomes reality in the end. 5 stars

-The following review has been written at 2:20 at night and is therefore prone to be delicately bitchy - Nice beginning but later? oh, boy...where do I start? a) The H obviously knows the h has gotten the shock of her life and in the beg he pushes her away cuz he doesn't wanna take advantange of her and then what? he sleeps with her to give her les scent des l'homme? wtf? b) What is up with the h? was she PMS-ing? people get laid off work all the time AND get ditched (sometimes unrequited love, too

Do you know that when you actually love someone, you want to know everything about them? yes, really - EVERYTHING! and yet he claims he never found out that she was job-less and in economic distress? What BS! d) The whole let's replace the icky male model with the H to capture the shot- Why didn't I see that coming? Oh, wait a second - I DID! huh! e) Also, if the H acknowledges that he knew how painful this 'fantasy' was for the h the first time round, how could he force her to play it again - and with some other dude? f) The name 'fantasy' - banal and over-used. Plus the ad didn't seem to be anything special from the description. Meh g) The bitchy sister of H? What was up with her? The way she was going on made me suspect her of being jealous of another gal in brother dearest's life. Very creepy

Hmm...this one was pretty decent, except for the h, she was excessively annoying and the epitome of a waterpot. She needed to get over herself, suck it up, and put on her big girl pants.

Going back home, she breaks up with her fiance and momager, and decides to find her own footing in life, her memories of paradise providing her with her only source of happiness. When an offer comes from a famous cosmetic company "Lamarr" to act in a perfume commercial, she grabs it..not realizing the owner is the H! What follows is painful- the heroine puts her heart out on the line multiple times for the hero to humiliate and ridicule her. He uses their beach moments to sell his product, rejecting her at every point, even making her rehash the feelings of love she felt with him on the shore. Every time she pleads, he pushes away- so much so that I felt the heroine grew so desolate, she was on the verge of suicide. At the end, its the h who chases the H and grovels. Yes, the dbag finally realizes all what he has done- but what do we get- SUB PAR GROVELING and an easily forgiving heroine. The only stars this gets is for the heavy angst, especially in the moments the h reaches the point of
