Something similar happened to me when I was sent to a convent boarding school and we all had to have physical exams by this creepy doctor. If you were ill he would always put his hand down your underwear. I hated the years of being a schoolgirl - very unenlightened, creepy times.
A School Medical In Northern England I went to a big comprehensive in a West Yorkshire mining village. It was quite rough. About once a year the school doctor would come and stay in the school for about a week or two. They usually did full medicals for the first years and anyone who had joined the school from a different authority.

What's your most awkward physical exam? I've personally never had a physical exam, but I was talking to some friends that played sports all through high school about it and thought Reddit may have some interesting stories. Have at it! My pediatrician checked my sibling and I at every yearly physical exam from a young age. It was never a big deal for us or for my mom, who always accompanied us to the doctor and in the room for our physicals and other visits.
So I laid on the table and the doctor examined me while explaining stuff to the students, then, to my dismay, he asked the students to come forward one by one and perform a visual and physical examination.
The other awkward part was the physical exam. In the real world, a teenager at risk for genital warts and cervical cancer would get at least a glance-over of her down-there-ness from a doctor about to prescribe birth control. But the medical school did not want their fumbling mini-doctors poking around my junk.
