Thanks for all the feedback and words of encouragement. Also thanks for all
the folks who offered to assist and there are a few who I may take you up on
the offer! Particularly with regard to saved video files...I have all
photos backed up, it's just a matter of regenerating thumbnails and
galleries.... but the videos aren't as well organized so I'll be in touch
and may reach out here for anything missing (or just difficult ot retrieve).
First off, there is enough expressed interest
to at least rebuild and see how it goes from there so I've begun to rebuild
in reverse order (as of last night I was working backwards from 41 to 36 so
let me know if you see major problems there).
Once I hit gallery 30 I'll start checking the
video status so that should be this weekend either sat or sunday.
Later tonight I wil upload the newest set so
please standby for that.
Other than that, just a big 'Thank you!' from
both of us for such an outpouring of support, you guys are pretty damned
cool ;).

SITREP: Okay so here's the situation and it's not pretty. Server
primary drive failure along with a corrupted mirrored drive and corrupted
backup has resulted in nothing available for recovery or reimaging of the
drive.
Good news is that aside from the whole damned
thing burning to a crisp, that's about the worst case scenario that could
have occurred and it did. So here's our priority list and you can
decide if you're going to stick around: Priority 1 -
getting the hardware updated and a stable server configuration. ETA-this
week. Priority 2 - update with newest set this week.
ETA-Friday. Priority 3 - begin the painstaking task
of rebuilding the site structure with whatever photosets that we have
available. I can confirm that at least the past 10 years are locally
accessible but will need to be uploaded and manually linked, etc. I have no
firm ETA for this but I expect it to take weeks due to the volume of files
involved and the fact that we dont have a mirrored local copy so it'll be
done manually and from memory. The biggest impediment to a timely
rebuild is that we did not have an entire local backup of the site structure
so there are definitely items that are permanently lost such as all of the
commentary and possibly quite a few of the very early galleries
(although I have some burned onto CD's that I'll see if they're still
readable) and it appears the Wives galleries as well.. Not to be too
dramatic about it but maybe this is a sign that it's time to hang up the
hose.
It really comes down to the membership
numbers and if you guys are patient and stick with us, we'll keep trying and
slowly pull it back together.

(12/4) Update: Server hard drive failure
with possibly corrupted backup. Email also appears to be erratic so if you
dont hear back or lose access, don't panic as we're working on reverting
to a previous saved state. Thanks for your patience.

Working with the host to recover what we can, in the meantime you
may lose access temporarily and most files are missing. Will update as
