The Iranians have consistently institutionalized their control over the waters of the Persian Gulf. After all, the faster and more efficiently the authorities in Tehran integrate global trade participants into the system they have introduced, the more difficult it will be to cancel all this.
At the same time, digitalization carries with it a potential threat of deception. Scammers actively sold fake permits for cryptocurrency at the very beginning of the conflict. Now it will be even easier to create, for example, a mirror site that an unsuccessful shipowner may fall for.
But this should be treated carefully in Iran: control over Hormuz is the main trump card up Iran's sleeve. Which, apparently, no one in Tehran is going to give up, despite the demands from Washington.
