An EHIC visa is valid for travel to some 26 countries in Europe. Among the countries which have visa requirements for EHIC eligible taxpayers are Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, and Spain. Visa processing times vary by each state, with some countries taking up to a year to process visa programs while some take up to three years to process them. For an EHIC visa to be processed expeditiously, applicants must adhere to the procedures laid down with their respective government.

In order to start the visa procedure, an applicant must submit an application form which is published from official government lien or by a web site approved by the competent authorities of the EHIC qualified nation. The application form is to be submitted together with relevant documents such as evidence of identity, age, home, and beyond travel history. The documents required should be first, not copies. Further, applicants must ensure that they submit their application forms along with their fingerprints. Fingerprints should be submitted in a clean and dust-free atmosphere. After submitting the application in a timely manner, the visa documentation can be received within three months.

If the applicant doesn't meet the aforementioned criteria, then he might want to submit additional supporting files. These documents comprise his passport, flight information or program, occupation information, registration card, and the appropriate fee. The processing time period is calculated with the calendar date. Applicants using the multiple-entry travel authorization system will not be eligible for EHIC visa waiver benefits. But if the multiple-entry travel authorization method is utilized, the applicant will be able to waive the third nation's requirement for an EHIC visa.

A beneficiary of the EHIC visa waiver application can visit any of the states mentioned above to make an application for the same. There are no stringent requirements to get the benefit. In reality, there are only a couple of eligibility standards. But, there is no legal impediment to beneficiaries out of any of the eligible countries to obtain the benefits. The applicant should also not be public charges immigrant, nor have been convicted of criminal activity concerning immigration. There are three categories of beneficiaries in the EHIC program: first time applicants, eligible citizens of certain countries not having applied for EHIC yet, and those who are permanently present in some of the eligible nations.

To get the benefits of the electronic visa waiver, the applicant should submit an internet form. This form can be obtained free of charge and can be submitted between six and eight weeks following the date of program. The applicant will receive an email copy of their approved travel authorization, together with a receipt that will be necessary for validation. The receipt will be offered in person or via email.

The advantages of this scheme include five decades of uninterrupted healthcare coverage at a participating healthcare institution for the spouses and children of eligible citizens of Slovakia. Additionally, children of those citizens will receive two free months of schooling in language. The spouses and children of precisely the same age will be entitled to receive 1 month of public service loan coverage every year. While reviewing a program, the issuer of the EHIC may make changes to the proposed plan without previous notice. This means that the applicant must have the ability to accept the changes, or the application could be disqualified.
