Education In the USA

Education in the USA is offered in both public private, home schooling, and homeschooling. Public education in the USA is offered at all levels, from kindergarten up to twelfth grade. Private education is available through both tuition assistance programs sponsored by the state, as well as tuition assistance plans sponsored by employers and other organizations. Home schooling is offered either by the parents themselves, or by a parent or guardian acting on behalf of the child.

Education in the USA can be categorized into three main components. First, there are the formally recognized universities and colleges throughout the USA. These are the more highly-respected universities like the University of Michigan, Harvard, Yale, Cambridge, etc., as well as the country's most prominent colleges and universities such as Harvard University, Yale University, Cambridge, etc. In the USA, there are also two separate systems: the Department of Defense Advanced Education Program (ADDEP) and the Alternative Schools.

Second, there are the post-high school vocational or technical colleges that offer accredited associate's, bachelor's, master's or doctorate degrees in business, computers, math, science, engineering, health care, liberal arts, social sciences, etc. There are also less commonly accredited trade or vocational schools, which offer a range of programs. These include some of the oldest vocational or trade schools still in operation in the USA. The colleges and universities that fall within these categories offer associate degrees, bachelor's degrees, master's degrees, doctorates and PhDs. There are also professional diplomas, which, though not fully accredited, give you the title of "Master of Business Administration".

Thirdly, there are technical colleges offering bachelor's and master's degrees in science, technology, engineering, mathematics, computer science, and related areas. There are also vocational or trade schools which offer degree courses in agriculture, forestry, commercial arts, graphic design, health care, Interior Design, legal assistance, marketing, political science, sociology and a range of others. Many of these programs lead to graduate level degrees. The main difference between the two systems is that students from the US, who are pursuing graduate level degrees, have a choice between attending a normal college or a technical college while international students have to settle for one or the other. The major subjects taught in each of the graduate level programs are the same. The only major difference is that international students usually have to compete for places with US students who already have the degree, while those from the US are almost always able to enter into a competitive college without first having to take a pass with an SAT or ACT.

Fourthly, there are two kinds of educational institutions in the USA. First, there are the public four-year colleges and universities which, like the universities in the rest of the world, offer a variety of courses and subjects that students can choose from. Students have the choice of pursuing either a Bachelor of Science, Bachelor of Arts, or a Master of Science, among many others. Public four-year colleges and universities are not part of the system of higher education in the USA. They are actually quite a bit apart, with the need for students to secure federal financial aid and transfer to a four-year educational institution being a big factor.

Secondly, there are also private educational institutions that provide a variety of programs. This includes colleges and universities that are not part of the federal system and colleges that are part of the system of post-secondary educational institutions that are not accredited by the US education department. As with the public four-year colleges and universities, students have the option of pursuing either a Bachelor of Science, Bachelor of Arts, or a Master of Science, among many others. Private educational institutions are quite popular in the USA, especially since the federal financial aid and the fact that most of them are located in states that are home to large numbers of people who speak different English language, while the local universities tend to be located in more rural areas where many local students may actually speak more common languages.

Another option of course is to look towards what the colleges and universities of the USA have to offer on their own. The first step of course would be to visit the websites of each of the colleges and universities of the USA to see what programs and what courses they offer. Some colleges and universities also have online programs that can be taken at the convenience of anyone's home, even if they are on vacation. These online programs tend to suit those who want to pursue higher education in the USA but who are already in a location that does not allow them to attend a physical college. Students then have the option of completing a program in less than two years, depending on their chosen courses.

Admission to any of the four-year universities of the USA is an extremely tough process. The rules and guidelines for getting admission can sometimes be strict. For the students who are from very remote areas, it can be almost impossible. Those who live in the Midwest generally have an easier time of getting into the four-year colleges of the USA. There are also special programs set up for Native Americans who wish to pursue higher education in the USA.
