Gurugram-based edtech Uolo has raised $7 million in a Pre-Series B funding round led by global edtech investor Five Sigma, with continued participation from existing backers Blume Ventures, Morphosis, and Alicorn.

The startup plans to use the fresh capital to deepen school partnerships, enhance its GenAI technology, and further integrate learning across classrooms and homes.

Uolo currently works with more than 2,500 schools and serves over 1.1 million paying students across India, the company said in a statement. Its products aim to improve learning affordability, adherence and continuity by extending school-structured study patterns into after-school hours.

“Learning can sometimes be fun, but it is always hard. The real challenge is not content, it is adherence,” said Pallav Pandey, CEO and co-founder of Uolo. “Schools solve adherence during the day. With our AI-powered products, we extend that structure into the home. We believe AI works best not as a separate experience, but as a companion to school education that helps students sustain habits and motivation beyond classroom hours.”

Further, Peter Mobbs, Managing Partner at Five Sigma, noted that success in AI-driven education requires trust, distribution through schools, and tight integration with the everyday learning cycle. “Uolo’s deep school partnerships and product execution position it strongly to build AI that becomes part of daily education and delivers real learning outcomes,” he said.

The funding comes amid a significant shift in India’s K–12 landscape. According to UDISE+ 2024 data, India has roughly 25 crore students learning in schools, with 48% enrolled in private schools.

In urban regions, private school enrolment is nearly 70%, according to the Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation. The trend reflects rising household investment in education and the belief that academic achievement remains one of the strongest pathways to upward mobility.

Earlier, Uolo had raised $22.5 million in Series A funding in 2022, led by Winter Capital, following a $3-million Pre-Series A round led by Blume Ventures.
