During the meeting the Prime Minister emphasized the government's support and the importance of this cooperation between shipyards from Croatia and Ukraine in order to make them even more competitive on the markets worldwide. In addition, Ivica Piric the president of the Ukrainian Chamber of Commerce in Croatia commented, ''Apart from the shipbuilding industry, Ukrainians are very interested in the construction sector such as roads and bridge construction. After the cold front that brought with it traffic chaos and buckets loads of snow, and then the south wind that carried rain and flooded the roads, Dubrovnik finally had a day of peaceful weather today. This is not normal. I have just come back from England where every winter morning is down in the minus temperatures. The advantage is that bura there is nonexistent. Whatever I wear, or maybe I should say however much I wear, the bloody bura cuts through me like a hot knife through butter. It is so cold that my Labrador is sleeping under a blanket. He is a Labrador, originally from a region inside the Arctic Circle, and yet in Dubrovnik he is sleeping on my bed near to the heater under a fur blanket. One night I was awoken by the bed shaking, was it an earthquake — no — it was my Labrador shivering. It was probably the first time in my life that I have been woken by a vibrating Labrador and hopefully the last. It sounded like one of those horror movies, a strange whistling noise almost like a wolf howling. In the morning after a sleepless night I went to inspect. Doors and windows were all intact, nothing wrong there, and then I saw the culprit, a hole in the roof. Would that make a whistling sound? Up into the attic to investigate. Now I have to add that the wind was still blowing, really blowing, like blowing me off my feet. I barely unlocked the outside attic door without it pulling my arm out of its socket. It was a fridge up there, no a fridge would have been much warmer, it was like the centre of an iceberg. The first hole that I had seen from the outside had caused another two holes to form on the other side of the roof. I now had a sieve protecting my house! And the three holes formed a concentrated wind tunnel that had the bura whistling through at breakneck speeds. My mobile rang. I gave up. A few seconds later I heard an echo in the wind, sounded like a neighbour. I pushed my head through the gaping sunroof in my roof and saw a neighbour waving up at me. I gave a thumbs up with my frozen digit. I managed to drag in the freezing tiles that had escaped but gave up on any idea of replacing them in their original position. I stacked the six tiles in a neat pile and surveyed the blue sky through my roof. I had visions of three umbrellas sticking through the holes in the roof. Wind is the way you shift heat from areas where it's hotter to areas where it's cooler. That's what wind is. Dubrovnik will have less cruise ship arrivals this year than , at least according to current statistics. Last year cruise ships docked in Dubrovnik carrying with them around , passengers. But the latest reports for this year show that cruise ships will arrive. However the Director of the Port of Dubrovnik , Dario Barbaric, considers that this current number will increase and that more cruise ships will dock in Dubrovnik in Adding that the cruise ship business is very hard to forecast and the final number of cruise ships expected this year is still unknown. And with the uncertain political situation in Turkey, Greece and North Africa this could mean that Dubrovnik is seen as a safe option. Cruise ship tourism in Dubrovnik is a subject that has both its negative and positive aspects. This extremely important sector of tourism and business must be institutionally organised and must include all parties involved in the cruise ship business. This report has yet to be even discussed at the City of Dubrovnik council, and with the current political situation in the city it will probably have to wait a little longer. The study also states that it is important to increase the number of cruisers through the months of November to April, with an aim of at least 30 percent of the total number of cruisers coming in those months. It also adds that a better system of scheduling ships through the summer weeks is necessary. On the 15th of January the European Community officially recognized Croatia as an independent country.
