Temperzone's Econex OPA is an innovative range of variable capacity R32 inverter rooftop packaged systems. These systems are designed to deliver exceptional seasonal energy efficiency through the implementation of leading system software and componentry.
Econex OPA have been designed to assist organisations in their carbon reduction efforts. The use of R32 refrigerant enables a significant reduction in refrigerant related GWP (Global Warming Potential) compared to R410A systems.

The Econex R32 Inverter Air Cooled Package Units were recently awarded with the 2022 Product Excellence Award at the ARBS Industry Awards in Melbourne. This Award category is focused on new technologies that demonstrate innovation and fitness for the purpose of Air Conditioning, Refrigeration & Building Services sector.
The ARBS Industry Awards is a national collaborative effort by all major HVAC&R & building services associations to showcase excellence in the Australian Air Conditioning, Refrigeration and building services industry.
With a smaller refrigerant charge and a GWP of 677, OPA Econex R32 refrigerant units result in a 71-79% reduction in overall GWP per kW of cooling or heating when compared to R410A systems (GWP 2088).
Econex inverter compressors only use the amount of energy to suit the operating condition maximising your SEER performance.
Fixed speed air conditioners are single speed on/off systems. Once the desired temperature is reached, they turn off, turning back on only when the temperature drops below or rises above a set level. This cycling between full or no capacity causes unnecessary waste of electricity and doesn’t maintain a constant room temperature.
The use of variable capacity inverter compressors allow a precise load variation response for superior temperature control. The use of electronic expansion valves and variable speed indoor and outdoor fans further allows a more effective, and efficient, response to varying load conditions.
EC Plug fans control airflow accurately and efficiently. Fan speed can also be controlled via external signals via input or Modbus.
EC Condenser Fans increase overall efficiency and optimise refrigeration efficiency.
Compared to the same capacity fixed speed units, Econex OPA considerably increases in efficiency (EER) as the ambient reduces, while fixed speed systems efficiency remains relatively unchanged.
Seasonal energy performance of Econex is superior because;
The Econex range, when compared to the same capacity fixed speed units, has considerably higher seasonal energy efficiency factors.
For versatile specification, all R32 inverter packaged systems offer a very wide heating and cooling capacity range enabling reliable comfort at times of peak load and increased energy savings under low load conditions.
Econex OPA features dual EEV's, benefits include;
Advanced Dry Mode and Super Dry Mode can only be achieved by temperzone Econex and Eco units as they utilise optimised Dual Electronic Refrigeration Valve control (IP protected) to achieve exceptional dehumidification performance across the units full operation range. EEV's provide optimum control of superheat at varying load for outstanding comfort with indoor air temperature and humidity control and increased efficiencies by lowering head pressure and optimum feeding of heat exchanger coils.
Designed for the harshest conditions these R32 packaged units are designed to operate in ambient temperatures from -15°C to 52°C to ensure you’re always comfortable, whatever the weather.
Unit footprints have been minimised to reduce associated installation costs and accommodate confined spaces.
As the next generation product the Econex footprint sizes have been reduced considerably. This amounts to between 20% to 22% for the Econex OPA 350, OPA 450 and OPA 560, when compared to the previous generation product.
Installer electrical access has been improved with connections more easily accessed through customer terminals. Units are fully wired and the main power supply along with communication connections can be wired directly within the terminal.
Econex packaged units offer flexible handing configurations as standard to suit site requirements.

With a smaller refrigerant charge and a GWP of 677, R32 refrigerant represents a 75-80% reduction in overall GWP per kW of cooling or heating when compared to R410a systems (GWP 2088).
As higher GWP refrigerants face increasing cost due to emissions tax levies, the specification of R32 systems will represent a significant reduction in the future costs associated with maintaining these systems.

Econex Ducted Split Systems utilise inverter compressor technology providing superior part load performance and close comfort control.
Our Econex inverter units feature a stepless capacity control that enables the achievement of precise comfort settings. In contrast, non-variable capacity units attempt to maintain temperature by repeatedly switching power on and off, thereby generating greater temperature fluctuations and higher energy use.
Designed for the harshest conditions, these R32 ducted units are designed to operate in ambient temperatures from -15°C to 52°C to ensure you're always comfortable, whatever the weather.
New intelligent de-ice enables improved performance in colder conditions. Optimised coil circuitry and new unit controller logic has resulted in faster and more effective de-ice.
Our high-efficiency EC fan motors are 20% more energy efficient than AC motor alternatives and enable quiet operation with slow ramp-up and no sudden noise changes. Achieve precise comfort with custom select fan speeds or continuously variable fan speed control.
EEVs enable improved efficiency and reduced operating costs at part-load conditions. They also facilitate maximised energy savings during the shoulder seasons – periods in which air conditioning systems often run at part-load.

Contemporary and convenient, it is designed to seamlessly fit into modern residential and commercial environments, while delivering comprehensive yet simple control of your comfort. For convenience, the thermostat can be easily wired to either the Indoor or Outdoor Unit.

Wiring and pipe access is made easy and convenient with a new removable corner access panel for electrical and piping access. Easy installer electrical access with connections more easily accessed through the corner panel. Outdoor units are fully wired and the main power supply along with communication connections can be easily wired directly within the panel.
