π Eco / Water Analysis Summer School π
EcologyHave you ever wondered where your tap water goes after you use it? It all ends up at the wastewater treatment plant, the place that ensures the water cycle of the city works properly.
A prime example is the Salar Wastewater Treatment Plant in Tashkent. This plant purifies millions of liters of sewage water daily. However, with the city's growth and industrialization, chemical plants now discharge their waste into Salar, leading to potential contamination of water used for irrigation across Uzbekistan.
π¨ Urgent Issue: The Salar Plant, initially designed for household water, struggles to treat industrial chemicals. Contaminated water may be used to irrigate crops, affecting our food supply!
π Summer School Project: Prove the existence of this problem through research and propose solutions.
Agenda:
1. Day 1: Problem Introduction
2. Day 2: Trip to Salar Plant & Textile Industry
3. Days 3-4: Lab Analysis at the Hydrometeorological Institute
4. Days 5-6: Literature Review & Academic Paper Writing
Goals:
- Collect and analyze water samples.
- Compare results with World Standards.
- Propose solutions to this ecological issue.
Post-Summer School:
- Present findings at International Conferences.
- Study international practices for similar issues.
- Develop a 10-year national strategy for local wastewater treatment plants.
