i searched for items to extended wifi range. this item came up in the search and may work to extend wifi but only as a "wired to your router" outside antenna with cat 5 as an extension cable. Other similar items have the option to pick up and repeat or rebroadcast the wireless signal. This item requires your router to also be plugged into the POE adapter...this is the only way this will have an internet connection and without the data cable from the modem you got just a wifi connection with no internet. Then on top of that its range is worse than the router im using that don't even have external antennas. this is more for a business wanting to increase their range for wifi and has options like free wifi at restaurants where you have to open a webpage and click "agree" on term of service before the wifi lets you access the internet. I should have taken more time when ordering and seen that this was not only USED (called renewed) but incorrectly categorized in the search. Waste of time and money as i don't want the hassle of trying and figure out how to return it and where i can take it to for pick up without have to drive a half hour away

Effortless Outdoor Deployment with Passive PoE

I hate that these reviews get grouped together for vastly different products, so that’s why I put the model in the subject I am not a business, and I am not using this “business grade” access point in a business setting. I am using the EAP660 HD in an oddly-shaped, second floor apartment. I am coming from the perspective of a consumer, where consumer grade equipment is often over-priced, under-spec’d, and ugly. This access point is not that. This access point is pretty big overall, but is smaller and much less offensive than my previous router-turned-access-point. Functionally, this access point is great. WPA3, WiFi 6, and the 2.5G port were all big selling points for me. The user-interface is perfectly simple, and the installation was super easy. With or without POE, this access point is as close to plug-and-play as I think you can get, with a lot of flexibility and advanced features. An access point is NOT a router. If you’re interested in my network: CM1000 -> PFSense -> Access Point. This means I have at-max, 1GB download. I pay for 900M, and when wired I normally get ~860 or so. Wireless I used to get 550Mb/s through my Asus Ac3200 to my iPhone 11. Now I get a (much more reliable) 670Mb/s to the same device. (I know, super scientific) While I have asymmetric bandwidth through my ISP, the 2.5Gb networking is great for when I want to upgrade, making this purchase a longer-term solution and less of an incremental upgrade. Also if I had any network attached storage, 2.5G to the wireless access point could be useful there too. I am not tied into the Omada ecosystem, and this just lives by itself with a 1Gb POE switch powering it. When multi-gig switches gain popularity and lower price, perhaps then I will upgrade. Only time will tell for reliability, but at this time I have zero complaints. Super solid. If I observe any issues with reliability, I will update here.

EAP660 HD in the home

In AC mode: Next to client (these are real megabytes (1024*1024), bits are 1000*1000): 65.0 MiBs (545 Mbs) - EAP660 HD 60.0 MiBs (503 Mbs) - EAP610 V2.2 51.6 MiBs (433 Mbs) - UAP-AC-PRO-US Near client, but impaired placement, facing up (simulates upstairs client): 50.2 MiBs (421 Mbs) - EAP660 HD 33.4 MiBs (280 Mbs) - UAP-AC-PRO-US 30.2 MiBs (253 Mbs) - EAP610 V2.2 As you can see, the EAP 660 HD beats them both. The EAP 610 is faster than the UAP-AC-PRO-US next to the client and when placed in ideal locations, but slower with obstructions. I believe the secrete to this unit's performance is due to the large size, which allows it to run cooler than average.

Purchased these along with the hardware controller. I don't want to rely on having the configuration done via the vendor's "cloud", so the hardware controller was a must. Setup was relatively easy, and it works much better than trying to do roaming across multiple consumer routers on the same SSID. Support for PoE is a nice benefit. No complaints so far.

Most of my APs have come with a POE injector when they support it. Manufacturer lists a power adapter in the box. Yes, but it's not a POE injector - instead it's a traditional power supply. So if you want to supply power via POE you'll have to either have a switch that already supports 802.3at or buy an injector. An extra $25. Not pleased. I'll provide a more comprehensive review after I get this installed (upon receiving my 802.3at POE injector I had to order). And yes, those letters 'at' matter.

The idea is great, the product - is okay for the price. Excellent performance, BUT TP-LINK refuses to use UNII-2e channels 100 - 144 or DFS channels (50 to 64). The problem with that is you are limited to a very then only 8 non-colliding channels, that's enough right? Not if you Channel bond (only 80 MHz on the EAP 245v3)...Channel bond combines 3 - 4 channels...if you only have 8 to work with, that means that after 2 AP's, you will get Co-Channel interference (a larger problem than people understand).
