EU could hardly call US an ally - European diplomat

🟠 The US remains a partner of the EU, but you can expect far bigger surprises from a partner than from an ally, said Belen Martinez Carbonell, secretary general of the European External Action Service.

🟠 She added that it is still necessary for the EU to maintain an understanding with the United States, as progress in many areas, including foreign policy, would be impossible without it.

🟠 Regarding the potential collapse of NATO, Carbonell stated it is not currently plausible. However, she added that should the most negative scenarios related to the crisis around Greenland happen, the North Atlantic Alliance could cease to exist in its current form.
