Introduction

The Ethiopian Space Science Society was established in 2004, with 47 founding members. It is a non-profitable organization constitute of members from Astronomy, Astrophysics, Space Science and technology, and the related field of professionals as well as individual, and institutional members interested in the above fields. The society has more than 15,000 individual members, 30 branch associations, over 58 institutional members, and over 100 Space School Clubs. ESSS is excited to announce its internship program for university students and graduates who are passionate about space science. This program provides an opportunity for interns to gain hands-on experience and make meaningful contributions to ESSS's mission.

Internship Positions

This three-month program offers part-time positions in web development, content creation, graphic design, accounting, membership coordination, event coordination, management, and maintenance and design. Interns will work closely with experienced professionals and collaborate with their teams to contribute to the ESSS's mission of promoting space science and technology. Through this program, interns will develop practical skills, gain insights into the industry, and expand their network.

Web Development Team

Available Positions: 10 (2 Teams)

Duration: 3 Months

Working Hours: 3 Days/Week (4 hours/day)

Requirements for Team α:

Basic knowledge of JavaScript, HTML, CSS, PHP

Ability to write reusable, effective, and scalable JavaScript code

Knowledge of building modular and reusable components and libraries

Implementation of front-end components with the progressive Vue.js framework

Use of Laravel for designing and creating web apps and services

Requirements for Team β:

Ability to build modular and reusable components and libraries

Ability to write reusable, effective, and scalable JavaScript code

Basic knowledge of JavaScript, HTML, CSS, PHP

Experience with ReactJS and Bootstrap

Content Creation

Available Positions: 3

Duration: 3 Months

Working Hours: 3 Days/Week (4 hours/day)

Requirements:

Ability to submit tasks on time

Ability to research and prepare various space science-related articles

Graphics Design

Available Positions: 3

Duration: 3 Months

Working Hours: 3 Days/Week (4 hours/day)

Requirements:

Familiarity with Adobe After Effects, Filmora & Davinci Resolve

Ability to work remotely

Familiarity with Canva & Inkscape

Ability to submit tasks on time

Collaboration skills with team members

Experience in Adobe Ai, PS & Id

Accounting

Duration: 3 Months

Basic knowledge in accounting software

Can I still apply without being a member of the ESSS?

No. You have to be a member of the ESSS and must have a renewed 2022 ESSS ID in order to be eligible for the application process.

Membership Requirements

Everyone can be a member of the ESSS. The only thing you need is two 3x4 Portrait Photographs of yourself and an Annual membership fee depending on your age.

Membership Fee

20 Birr/ Year for people below the age of 18

50 Birr/ Year for Undergraduate Students

120 Birr/Year for Adults
