What are the favorites of the locals? How accessible are drugs in metropolitan areas like Istanbul or Izmir? That law is very firm on drug use almost as bad as it is for distribution. However, Istanbul has the same amount of drug accessibility as any other major European city, from what I've heard. I've never heard of acid in Turkey. Which is a bummer. And I've never come across mushrooms. I go picking in the uk but maybe the climate just doesn't let it happen in turkey. I'm going back to Turkey soon and am thinking of mailing some lsd to a friend. From what I know pills in Turkey are bought from the dark net, so as pure and non pure as anywhere else! I think you're generally safe with them, particularly in Istanbul. Heroin is also smuggled through the borders on the east of turkey, cheap and great quality, from what I've heard. Though I don't have intentions of trying it. Shwag marijuana is about lira for about a joints worth after seeds and stems are removed. Hash is a decent price and relatively easy to find on the Asian side. Quality varies but it's pretty good on average. Chronic exists but it can be difficult to find and from what I gather is home grown. It's also quite expensive. You can get some PK for about 40 for a dime on the European side. Ecstasy is easy to find and relatively cheap. Ranges between lira a pop. It's heavily loaded with amphetamines though. I'm not very sure about MDMA content. I know that LSD exist but it's really hard to procure. I've only met one person who had access and was told that it was seasonal and wasn't from Istanbul. As for mushrooms, the only mushrooms I've heard of is something similar to Amanita muscaria, though I'm not sure if that the exact species. Think of the mushroom on Mario. These grow in the wild and some of the youth tend to harvest them. I highly recommend you don't use this mushroom. Users I've met reported hallucinations but always accompanied with a 'bad trip' and bad long term effects on their psyche. Anything heavier such as Heroin, cocaine etc is quite expensive judging from the common drug usage in Istanbul. I know that Ankara youth had access it back in the late 90's. These days, I can't comment other than that I've met many users stemming from S. As for cocaine, I've never heard of or met any users. Meth doesn't seem to exist in crystal form. I think that kids here get their amphetamine fix from their ecstasy. Speed used to be quite common back in the 's from what info I've gathered but is no longer around. At least I haven't heard any news of it. All of that being said, due to the increased crackdowns and price increases over the last five years of Marijuana, most guys in Istanbul resort to 'Bali' Industrial glue , Tiner Paint Thinner or Bonzai. The poorest of the lot tend to use Bali as you can buy a stick of glue for roughly two lira and it seems to last them at least a night. It can be obtained at most home improvement or shoe shops. The glue used to attach soles to the bottom of shoes seems to be popular. You can recognize a glue user since their most popular brand tends to be of yellow color and they often use a transparent bag. Sandwich bags iirc. Tiner is also quite popular and cheap. I can't quite be sure whether it's more popular than Bali but in my personal observation it seems to be so. Both users of Tiner and Bali are usually under the ages of You can recognize them by their slow and slurred speech, dirty appearance, and dirty hands. They will usually ask for 1 lira when begging. The youngest user I've met was Most of the users I've come across in Istanbul are homeless and possibly orphans. Both Tiner and Bali users are relatively safe when high. If one does happen to ask you for money, promptly leave the area. Some may become forceful. I personally give them 1 lira and am usually left alone. Finally, Bonzai is a common choice of drug for the more experienced and older users. I haven't met many users doing Bonzai under the age of 20 though I've met none over It seems to be about half the price of shwag marijuana. For those that don't know, it seems to be nothing more than various chemicals sprayed on random plant matter and left to dry. Many locals confuse the dangers of Marijuana and Bonzai since Bonzai is also plant matter. The high doesn't seem to last much more than minutes and a Bonzai user will keep smoking throughout the night until his stash is depleted. Most users of Bonzai seem to have jobs and I haven't met one that was begging, yet. They often use pipes. The younger users tend to prefer Gravity Bongs. If you happen to find yourself friends with a user of Bali or Tiner, I would like to tell you that you've either made some bad decisions in life or that you've made bad decisions in your friend selection. Throughout your experience in Istanbul you may come across a Bonzai user. I suggest you don't become more than acquaintances with them. On the plus side, their willingness to share their Bonzai with you is quite low. Depends on the place, marijuana is most used and mostly by gangs. Extasy is like 1 pill for 25 to 40 lira. Weed prices are cheap but also crap quality. Not their fault that they don't know much about drugs, but there is a huge misconception about what marijuana is in Turkey. I prefer not to say esrar in Turkey because it has a strong negative connotation, I usually say 'ot'. I don't think marijuana is that much different from tobacco to be honest, from a moral perspective I mean. You can find weed in most private high schools in İzmir. I have friends who grow themselves. Plenty of dealers too, even my foreign friend from Finland found himself a dealer within days of arrivinf in İzmir. I have no clue about other drugs, though two friends of mine took mushrooms in İzmir on different occasions, so it shouldn't be that difficult to get. I'm surprised no one has mentioned Midnight Express yet. Nobody wants to think about that shitfeast of a movie.
