ECIPS/CJS

We can see many interesting things on the F-16 fighters that have arrived in Ukraine, so today we gonna talk about one of them

Electronic Combat Integrated Pylon System/Compact Jamming System (ECIPS/CJS) — a pylon system with integrated electronic combat capability/compact jamming system. As we can see from the name that this is a compact EW system with a pylon form specially developed for this aircraft.

● ECIPS/CSJ allows to jam possible threats and at the same time it is not big, which is a huge advantage

● The main advantage of this system is that, it is not installed on a pylon, because it's a pylon itself. That is, in addition to setting up radar jams, ECIPS/CJS allows installing weapons on itself, which makes this system unique

● CJЅ provides a fully autonomous countering the most advanced threats.

● Also, for the installation and operation of the system, it's not required to make changes to aircraft operational flight program (OFP, the system that provides information about the situation in the air).

● Effective against current and future access denial systems (A2/AD)

But even with such capabilities, this system isn't a panacea. This system was developed to counter soviet anti-air systems, for example, our experience using the S-300 system shows that it is quite possible to get through jams. There are also additional radar stations that help suppress radio interference.

Of course, ECIPS/CJS can stop enemy's AA for a while, but it doesn't give a 100% guarantee of protection.

That's why we can't fully rely on this system
