I've fallen in love with this particular face mold. So I was getting it for that reason. Also, I wanted to have darker dolls in my collection. Surprisingly, this doll is more gorgeous than I anticipated. She is literally stunning. I may buy her again, so that I can keep one in the box. I haven't opened her, but her dress is made well from what I can see. Mattel has been manufacturing Barbie with cheaper materials. Even their high-end dolls clothes have taken a dive. However, the dress on this beautiful doll looks well-made. The material is thick and layered beautifully, from what I can see. Her nails are painted red, too. She appears to have a fuller figure. Not as large as either of the two curvies but fuller than traditional Barbie. She has hips like the flat chest larger hipped doll, but her hips are as large and her chest isn't flat. I'm not sure if it's this amazing dress giving her the VAH-VOOM or if she is really packing. Her hips are giving serious Jessica Rabbit vibes. My only complaint, I just wish all premium Barbies were articulated/ poseable. I love this doll's skin tone and build. I don't want to sacrifice any of that when I buy an additional Barbie and swap, so she's articulated. I'd rather just pay more initially. Not to mention, though Barbie has a diverse line of dolls, they only have a few skin tones/ body builds for articulating their own black dolls. I just try to get close as possible. Barbie has done an excellent job of reflecting all the different shades of women of color and black women. Which makes it challenging to find appropriate body matches. As a result, I have a lot of mis-matchatched Barbies as I can only get close, not perfect. Sadly it's quite noticeable on many. I hope Mattel reads these comments and gives us more shades of black in that curvy yoga body. Please?

40 Anniversary Black Barbie is Stunning

This doll was well worth the purchase. She is very beautiful!
The doll is very pretty but I was looking for that full afro instead of an afro puff.
Just as shown, she is very gorgeous and so is her dress! I highly recommend her to any Barbie Collector! The ONLY REASON I gave her 4 stars was because mine came with a messed up left eye. It's something I normally do not complain about, but the makers of Barbie aka Mattel, really need to finally get their game together. It's getting old of fearing to buy a doll online because you don't want to get one with a messed up face paint. Other than that she is a beautiful doll!!
I have had my eye on this doll for some time. She is absolutely beautiful and her dress and jewelry are fierce. I Love her updo puff and makeup. She comes with a cute gold clutch bag. This doll is great and the price came down considerably to where I felt comfortable purchasing her. I love this doll and can't wait to get her in more photographs.

Paid a premium price for a supreme product but unfortunately it was in subpar condition. It's been sent back pending replacement. Will update review. Update: The replacement was acceptable... Some package scuffs due to handling of item in storage, the integrity of contents within was not tarnished.

The only issue that I have with the product is the packaging. The box is damaged. It is a collector's item therefore I will not take it out of the box, it looks a little tacky with the scratches all over the front.

Nostalgia looks great!
Couldn't resist this gorgeous doll. I had black Barbie dolls when I was little in the 60s, but I think they were called Christy -- I didn't even realise that it wasn't until 1980 that a black version with the name Barbie was sold. And what a perfect tribute this is! Looks even better in person.

Hard to resist!
A beautiful Barbie doll-bought this for myself as I loved Barbie growing up and couldn’t resist this one as a collectors item. Packaging was disappointing as so many others have mentioned. The plastic was slightly broken and very scuffed. Hence not giving it 5 stars.
its arrived with box dakaged, the package anazon was ok, the matter is insert a barbie box damage. i ordered a new one, i hope will arrived with box perfect

The doll is amazing! Stunning! Just a shame her box isn't in the best condition
A stunningly beautiful doll. My only issue is she's not able to hold onto the clutch without external help from elastic, or blu tack.
