The showers at the gym are all open along a wall without dividers. I used to see my Dad naked as a kid and even a teen, but now that I'm an adult, I'm worried it'll be awkward. As far as clothing in the shower goes, what is the purpose of the shower area in your gym? If it is simply to rinse before and after going to the pool, use a bathing suit. If it is to clean off the sweat from intense training, being in the buff is OK. As far as health risks are concerned, evaluate the cleanliness of the shower area.
