In most genie stories, genies are bound to several rules. Most common rules are: They can grant only a limited number of wishes (mostly three), they can't kill a person, they can't make someone fall in love, they are bound to their lamp/ring/bottle etc. These rules usually cause some trouble for the stories or create interesting twists. Tell us about your rules and how they affect your stories and the actions of your genies.

It's years since a journal was posted in this group. But recently, I had an interesting exchange of idea with ~AliciaDrawsBecause (https://www.deviantart.com/aliciadrawsbecause) about how members of dA see genies.
Do you see genies simply as sexy girls in scant harem clothes that are bound to grant their masters wishes?
Or do you see them as ancient beings, powerful and so much different from humans?
Or do you see them in a completely different way?

I'm just a guy but I know many of us love genies. Well I'm here today to say I want to find someone, someone important. Someone who sparked my and probably your interests.

I am wanting to know where I can contact the former owner of the Genieharem so in a vain attempt to get the site or all the pics/videos archived. The world needs it and I dare say if found it could inspire many more genie related art. Note me if you have any information on him. Any will do.

anyone wonders why there arn't alot of games with genies in them? i wonder myself,so i am currently working on a Genie mod for skyrim SE (xbox one/PS3 editions) and i already got the genie's models made(was rather difficult to get the legs to have the option of swapping to and fro from smoke tail connected to vessel/ idle not connected to vessel and regular legs (when not connected to vessel)and making the vessel a useable hold item and placing item in houses(aka static it so it doesn't bounce around or get lost,Display and summoning purposes) i also finished the quest line that basically will have your character find a lamp/bottle/other asso

I heard these rules a long time ago, not sure from where. Genie Rules: 1. A genie is bound to whomever releases him/her from their bottle and is compelled by gratitude to obey his/her wishes. The longer the genie has been in the bottle, the more willing they are to obey and grant wishes. However, "obey" does not mean automatic fulfillment, their desire to please is an obsessive compulsion disorder (OCD). A genie's magic is not absolute (see below). 2. A genie cannot impose (trespass against) upon the free will of humans and other living animals, including physically, mentally, or emotionally. This is why they cannot injure anyone, change their thinking, etc. So if you want your genie to bring you dancing girls/bodyguards/whoever to you, these are created spirit people (with the same restrictions). They cannot make someone fall in love with you, but they can create a shallow spirit person to act like they are. If you wish your genie to bring a real person to you, they might, for example, manipulate a series of situations where, for example, the person ends up driving past your house, then they give them a flat tire. But that person may not necessarily enter your house, they can only try. 3. A genie's main power is over inanimate physical objects, not people. This is why they can create wealth and objects. They cannot compel people to do things (see Rule #2) but they can manipulate people. 4. A genie can only go back into their bottle if their master orders it. 5. A genie has a regular sleep cycle like everyone else and must sleep in their bottle daily to retain their magic. If their master is seriously injured or dies, the genie cannot be ordered back into the bottle. If a genie is outside their bottle for too long a time, they lose their magic which means showing their real age (could be thousands of years) and the genie dies quickly. Behavior and Psychology - Genies are extremely charming and manipulative. Like any skilled magick practitioner they may not lie, but they can greatly bend the truth. - Genies want as few people as possible to know of their existence because they know from experience this greatly complicates their lives from others trying to posses them, such as leading to a succession of masters, being put into their bottle for a long time, or their bottle being lost or broken (see Rule #5). - All genie legends demonstrate that they desperately do not want to be in the bottle, it is the agony of solitary confinement. Not being confined in their bottle, except for sleep, is the main psychological driving force of a genie. They have the dysfunctional psychology of someone who has been released from solitary confinement (poor people skills, eager to please, submissive). The more years they were in the bottle, the more enslaved from gratitude they are to their master (see Rule #4). Despite this, they must return to their bottle occasionally to keep their magic (see Rule #5). - They use their magic as gratitude (OCD compulsion) to "bribe" their master from putting them back into the bottle. They will use all their power to prevent being put back into the bottle. - They will always bribe/manipulate/befriend/seduce their master to keep from going back into the bottle. The more resistant their master is to their charms, the more they will try to manipulate events to get a different master. The more the master likes and is kind to the genie, the more protective a genie will be of their master. Genies may perform unwished for kind acts for masters they like. - A genie knows a kind master orders a genie into their bottle mainly for sleep and trusts they will release the genie later.
