I’ve been personally collecting vintage Doc Martens boots and shoes for close to 20 years. I started with a couple of pairs of work boots with bouncing soles that I used when I was a house painter, and went from there. Now that Doc Martens are no longer Made in England, but have moved production to China and Thailand, I have to say that I’m a fan of those as well. I once developed a case of plantar fasciitis during a time when I wasn’t wearing Docs. I bought a pair of 6 eye boots (a little reluctantly) and they did in fact heal my feet. They lasted me almost 10 years. I replaced them with a great pair of Hayes 10 eye which I love very much.
Still, I prefer the look and feel of Vintage Docs, and so Ebay, thrift stores, and various reseller outlets are my current haunts, where I’m looking out for genuine Made In England Doc Martens, one of the best shoes in the world, in my opinion. If it’s Dr. Martens, Doc Martens or just Docs, vintage is where it’s at. Oxfords, 1460’s, 1490’s, Mary Janes, I love them all.

The Made in England Vintage collection is handcrafted by our Wollaston factory cobblers using original construction techniques — plus Quilon, our rare, original specification Dr. Martens leather. Thick and corrected-grain with a matte finish, this leather only gets better with age. This unisex 1460 boot is made with all the classic Doc's DNA, including grooved sides, heel-loop and yellow stitching. Built to last, it's made using one of the finest methods of construction: the Goodyear Welt — which means the upper and sole are sewn together in our heat-sealed z-welt stitch. The boot sits on our iconic AirWair™ sole, which is oil and fat resistant, with good abrasion and slip resistance. Because Docs don't come in half-sizes (booooooo!) I am breaking in a pair of (US) size 9s for 9.5 feet. The break in is going nicely, but is a little tough on my feet. The boots are iconic for a reason - and the pair I got meets all expectations. Check the Rose-Anvil Youtube video to see how to break them in relatively painlessly.

These boots are even better looking in person and so well made. I am still breaking them in but, they are getting comfier every day!
