These trigger plate actions remove a large amount of wood from between the action so to strengthen it this gun has had a pin put cross wise across the head of the stock to prevent cracking. It was professionally and elegantly done with horn covers. The butt has a 1" horn extension.
A super price for a sound and beautiful round action.
If one opened up the right barrel to near cylinder this would make an awesome upland bird gun.
*Note that this Diamond grade has excellent dimensions for many and will make a great shooting gun for its next owner.
When I was in college at WSU and about 20 years old I lusted for one of these which I found in a gunsmiths shop in Pullman Washington. It was about $2000, about six semesters tuition then but a guy could dream. My tastes have changed since then but if your heart yearns for the classic American double gun here is a chance to own one for not much more than I would have had to pay in 1978.
Many in my world have since heard me joke about the best use for a Model 21 being for a boat anchor, or an extra paddle if you lose one... ...but in all seriousness I do respect these guns as I cannot deny they are well made and will digest almost any of the ammunition that can be found on the hardware store shelf. Something I admit many of our English guns cannot do.

William Ford is a very respected English gunmaker. Located primarily in Birmingham the business opened about 1884 and ended approximately in 1946 When William passed. Ford was well known for his choke boring (creating choke) and is in several references listed as the inventor of choke boring.
I collect case trade labels and the William Horton case label is one of my absolute favorites. I have one framed and matted on my wall! I will include with this gun a wonderful reproduction of this label.
The lever below the trigger guard opens and cocks the gun. It is out of the way and extremely ergonomic and better in my opinion than the top lever design.
This Ideal grade features chopper lump barrels and a third bite like Rigby's which rises through the rib extensions.
Many of the Manufrance guns had sling swivels hidden in the stock that are self retracting and this gun features that and in 100% working order.
The condition is very good with bright bores when brought to the light looking from the breach. Looking from the muzzle I do see some very light pitting inside both barrels near the muzzles but nothing of consequence. The gun is tight on face and field ready.
The engraving is wonderful both in execution and layout. The wood is sound and in very good condition.
*Note the superb rose and scroll engraving!
*Note the Westley signature top lever with the sliding third bite rib extension! Yes, this gun has 2 3/4" chambers and is nitro proofed for this.
*The forend in the picture shows the forend horn tip missing. We are having it replaced and should be done soon.
*Note the cast off is 1" which is more than normal but would be perfect for the person that has a large beard or face that would require this. It is possible it could be bent back some also.
*Note the beautifully scalloped action!
The gun is currently at the gunsmith to have the trigger adjusted but we should have this back soon.
The extra full chokes would make this great for turkey hunting or allows one for only $70.00 per barrel open the chokes to any desired amount.

The full and full chokes would allow our gunsmith to make this gun to any choke selection for just $75.00 a tube.
The 2 3/4" Nitro proofed chambers make this gun very versatile in the USA. The semi beaver tail forend I believe to be added later in the guns life, probably while here in the USA. This addition has obviously been done professionally as it is extremely well done.
While the bores show some light pitting/haze they are basically bright and have tons of wall thickness so this could be removed with a back bore if one wanted mirror bores.
This gun has a fairly short length of pull but could be made to 14 3/8" with a 1" recoil pad.
The gun has 14 1/8" LOP original wood with a well matched British done stock extension for the 15 1/4" LOP. This could be removed and a pad added to custom fit to your LOP quite easily.
So, despite the safety, I still shoot, promote and get excited about these guns as they are worth having, shooting and appreciating due to their great balanced round action and features. This grade and higher feature a rising bite third fastener similar to the coveted Rigby rising third bite. The pull back lever behind the trigger guard opens the gun and is extremely ergonomic. It is out of the way and very easy to operate.
There is some light pitting in the bores which could be removed but if it were me I would take this light lady afield just as she is and enjoy her doing what she does best.
*If a longer length of pull is needed a pad could be easily added for a LOP up to 14 1/2"

Someone carried and loved this gun. The checkering on the forend and the butt has nearly been worn off! When I was first offered this gun I did not at first look think I would want it. I obviously changed my mind as I found the gun tight on face with nice bores. The trigger pulls were good. The wall thickness was great and the barrels still had all their choke. In other words, this gun is ready to go and will give many more years of faithful service! Its like the 20 year old horse we had that went on to live to over thirty! Looks can be deceptive.
? Use the gun as is as a great backup gun or do an easy restoration. It is up to you. Either way this is a great gun for this kind of money.
