Don't Buy Into These "Trends" Concerning Item Upgrading
Path of Exile Item Upgrading
Upgrades to items allow players to enhance their weapons and gear with new affixes, increasing its base stats or adding additional perks. To upgrade items, players must have the item in their inventory, and also access the kiln.
Typically objects that have weak bases (like rings) can be upgraded to a stronger base, while items with strong bases such as eth titans aren't affected significantly in their stats after being upgraded.
Upgrade components
Upgrade components can be used to upgrade weapons, armor, trinkets and gathering tools, providing an added bonus or impact when the equipment is used. They can be bought from vendors, found as loot by enemies, or received from missions and chests. Some upgrades can have additional cosmetic effects. Most upgrades require the equipment to be above a certain level before they are upgraded.
To upgrade an item of armor, the player has to select it, and then click on the Upgrade button located in the toolbar. The screen will show on the right-hand side of the screen a preview showing the expected upgrade stats and the components or materials required for the upgrade.
There are three types of upgrade components: universal upgrades, prefix upgrades and suffix upgrades. Universal upgrades, like gems, can be placed on any type of equipment. They offer a lesser bonus than upgrade components that are subject to a type restriction. Infusions are only placed in gear that is ascended and legendary equipment are similar to gems, but offer higher bonuses and are not able to be placed in any other kind of equipment. Suffix upgrades can be added to gathering tools. They will add the suffix to the end of item names. For example adding the suffix Glyph will transform a staff wrapping of Minor Vigor a Canthan staff wrapping of Minor Vigor.
If the player upgrades their gathering tool, and then replaces glyphs with another glyph the old one will be returned to their inventory. However, replacing any other upgrade component can destroy it, except for the inscriptions that can be swapped.
Leveling
Path of Exile's upgrade system differs from the previous versions in a few important ways. Gear is now divided into tracks and items can only be upgraded a certain number of times before they are "leveled out." The cost for upgrades is increased with each level however, the materials needed aren't as high. This allows players to focus their efforts on a handful of key items and maximize their impact instead of spreading the upgrade costs across multiple pieces.
This will enable the item to receive upgraded components and a higher chance of success. This bonus is referred to as the Artisan's Energy, and it is reset to 0 after failure or increases if the upgrade is successful.
Once a piece is upgraded to its maximum level it is able to receive affixes that will enhance its capabilities. The number of affixes that are available will depend on the item's kind. For instance an uncommon or rare weapon with a base that is normal will only have two affixes available for it, whereas a legendary armor will have up to eight affixes for it.
Each upgrade will require a specific amount of Flightstones or Crests, depending on whether the item is at its current level and what slot it is in. Weapons will typically require more Flightstones than other equipment.
If an item fails to reach its maximum level, the NPC gives players the option to transfer it to a new character and then re-infuse it with a different set of upgrades. The process can take as long as two hours and costs the same amount of material but will result in lower chances of success.
To determine the height of a building engineers employ a level to compare the measurement with an established reference point, like a benchmark, or the ground's elevation. This process is known as a "level-loop." It involves taking readings with the level, backsighting rod and then turning the level to take the foresighting rod reading. This method makes sure that buildings are built to a high standard of accuracy and safety.
Rerolling
Rerolling refers to the process of altering an item's upgrade components. It is a very important aspect of the game and can boost an item's damage, strength, or other attributes. It is possible to do this through the item menu or by pressing the Reroll button when you upgrade an item. Rerolling an item can be costly and should be used sparingly.
The game allows players to recycle upgraded items, and use them to earn reroll tokens. These tokens are then used to upgrade the original item, or to upgrade another similar item. Recyclable items come with an indicator that indicates the level of upgrade. The amount of level that has been filled is contingent on the rarity and the upgrade cost of the item.
In the past, some upgrade items had priority affixes which made them easier to roll for than other. This meant that you'd receive the stats most important to your build more frequently than others. This included stats like armor's total armour, thorns and diminished duration due to control or the weapon's bonus attack speed and strike chance.
This has changed since the last patch. Priority affixes are no longer required and all upgrades will have the same odds of rolling for every stat. This could be good or bad, depending on what you want and need from your equipment.
Each upgraded item could come with a unique fixed-value, fixed-value benefit that increases its strength by a certain percentage. These bonuses are added to the normal affixes. The more you improve a product, the higher your chances of receiving a unique bonus.
The game also comes with various sets which give a set bonus when three or more upgraded items from the same set are installed on an item. This is a great way to add a lot of power to a particular character without spending an excessive amount of money.
Many players choose to reroll their gear and weapons, especially in the beginning of the game. Rerolling can provide item upgrader to a powerful character and allows them to climb high tiers and progress the game more quickly.
Sets
Sets are collections that can be organized in different ways. They could be of various dimensions, have no elements, or only contain a single element. They can be utilized to organize data or organize information. They can also be used for analyzing patterns. Sets can be classified in a variety of ways, including by size and shape.
There are many set items that can be upgraded in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. Certain items are worth upgrading while others aren't. Armor sets with high defense values or set bonuses are typically worth upgrading. However, weapon upgrades often do not boost the item's stats much as compared to their counterparts in purple. This makes them less appealing to upgrade if your collection of armor and weapons pieces is already extensive.
Set items can be upgraded to include special procs that are useful for specific builds. This is evident in Aldur's Advance Boots and Guillaume's Face. Both were upgraded to Exceptional Winged Helms and Exceptional Mirrored Boots, respectively. This increased their defense from 217 to 321. (Strength requirements and Level requirements were also increased).
Another reason for upgrading certain items is to bring them into parity with their levels. For example, the Immortal King set has a large level range, between 29 and 76. The upgrade of lower-level items in the set can increase their defense and make them more competitive in terms of damage.
Clicking the Upgrade button will show the item's attributes and the necessary items needed to upgrade it. The item's attributes will be displayed, along with any required items. To upgrade the No-mouth face for instance, 1.1K Scrap Materials will be required, as well as 250 Enchanted Dust and 5 Glowing Shards. Players can also look up the upgrade requirements for specific items at the Cyrodiil Golden vendor or Leaderboard.
In general, armor and weapons are more valuable when fully updated. Especially for weapons that have damage glyphs that are spell-like or weapon-related, upgrading them to gold is recommended because it will give a substantial increase in their performance. This will also boost the defense value of armor with a newer appearance.
