Upgrades can boost the value of certain numeric statistics on armor, weapons and rings. They also boost extra bonuses like crit chance and PvE damage.

Components
Upgrade components can be incorporated into weapons, armor and trinkets in order to provide them with a boost in stats or to add an additional effect. They can be obtained by crafting, buying from vendors trading, or looting. Some upgrades have special cosmetic effects.
Upgrade components can be inserted into any equipment with a slot for them; the item must have been at a minimum upgraded to blue level in order for the component to be applied. Unlike other mods, upgrade components can only be used once and cannot be applied multiple times or replaced by new upgrades. Infusions and enrichments are a particular type of upgrade component that is designed for non-amulet ascended and legendary equipment, as well as some of the non-ascended back items. Infusions and enrichments are recovered by salvaging ascended gear or completing an elite task in the Prophecies, Factions and Nightfall campaigns.
An upgrade may include a suffix or prefix, modifying the name of the item to which it is applied (for examplefor example "Canthan Armor Insignia is changed to Canthan Armor of Minor Vigor). Some upgrades increase the Mark Level or Rarity of an item, allowing players create stronger versions with fewer upgrade crystals than they require to reach the same level with normal methods.
A 'boost upgrade' can modify the attack or defense characteristics of a weapon or armor. These upgrades are available to be made using the Portative Forging Station once the player has completed the cutscene and defeats the Crazed Mechanical. They can also be dropped by enemies when upgrading other gear or by purchasing them in the cash shop for 500 upgrade crystals.
Each upgrade increases the probability that a higher-tier version of the item will be revealed in the next reset. This gives the player an incentive to continue upgrading their gear, even if they're unsure of how much they'll improve following a subsequent reset.
The boost upgrade may be successful or not, the process can be expensive, and there is a high risk that the item may be obsolete or even break if it fails; a failure to upgrade can cause the destruction of the Upgrade Crystals and Assist Powder, as well as the upgraded item. Cash shop items can be used to minimize or eliminate the possibility of failure. Some upgrades also offer a bonus if they are reinserted.
Glyphs
Glyphs are upgrade elements that can be inserted into special sockets on the Paragon Board. Glyphs boost the power of nodes within a radius, including any existing attaches. Glyphs can be upgraded in a variety of ways. We recommend upgrading them as quickly as you can to level 15.
In the final game, you will often find that the best way to enhance your gear is to place Glyphs. They are the only upgrade component that can be upgraded up to level 15 and provide an enormous boost to your power on the Paragon Board.
Most of the upgrades in the game can be replaced however Glyphs are the one upgrade component that can be removed and replaced without any restrictions. Only legendary equipment can be salvaged and rebuilt with a Black Lion Salvage Kit.
The value of each Glyph is displayed when you select it in your inventory. You can replace it with another Glyph of the same rank or higher rank, which will increase the value of the Glyph.
Glyphs are available in the Black Lion Trading Post as part of a Gem Store bundle or purchase, with certain unlimited-use tools as well as during Faction Crypt Raids. Every Faction Crypt can drop one of these Glyphs. There are also some rare glyphs that you can find in any of the Faction Crypts.
After you have acquired the desired Glyphs you'll need them to be placed on your equipment. Each Glyph unlocks a unique bonus that will boost a specific set of stat nodes within a radius around the Glyph. It can be +40 for one of your primary stats or +25 for two of your secondary stats based on the Glyph.
Glyphs will increase the number of nodes connected to them, therefore it is best to place Glyphs in strategic spots on the Graph. This will increase the impact. Druids, for example should position their Glyphs close to their primary damage nodes. They may be able to place them near their critical damage nodes.
Leveling
The upgrade system of items allows players to increase the stats of specific items by adding upgraded components. This is commonly known as "upping". Each upgradeable item is assigned a level that determines the final stats. Upgraded items can be leveled up to a maximum of 385. Each item level requires different components, and the cost of upgrading increase with each level.
Certain upgrades require an ingredient to be activated. This ingredient can be obtained by finishing Upgrade Recipes. These recipes are available in the upgrade tab of a crafting table, or obtained from NPCs. Each Upgrade Recipe completed results in a certain amount of Technology points. These points can be used to level the item, and once enough points are earned, the upgrade will be claimed and its additional bonuses will be added to the item.
When an individual player upgrades a piece of equipment it is replaced by a new item. This means that the same armor piece will get an weapon or shield once upgraded. The new item also comes with its own set bonus. This could be a disadvantage since the item may become more expensive even if you do not need it.
Item upgrades can sometimes be rerolled, if the player has enough tokens in order to do so. The item will be replaced with the same item, but it has a base of level 1 and completely different bonuses. This is a good idea, but should not be used frequently as it can waste resources.
Certain upgrades can increase their value, allowing players to customize their equipment. Dolphin's Gift is a good example, since it grants buffs when the player is repeatedly in or leaves the water. This can be upgraded several times, each time increasing the max roll by 10 points. This item is very valuable in PvP. A properly rolled version can be worth 50 times the value of the unupgraded counterpart.
Requirements
The ability to upgrade items allows players to increase the quality of their equippable equipment--armor, weapons, and trinkets over ilvl 385 by presenting the appropriate items and currency to an NPC that upgrades items. Upgrades to armor set pieces boost the defense of the base set, while upgrades to weapon items boost their base damage and also increase their strength and dexterity.
All items can be upgraded a maximum of five times, with the exception of hero gear that can have eight upgrades. Every time you upgrade an item, it is given the chance to fail. The rate of failure increases as you go beyond the maximum number of upgrades. Failures will result in the item reverting to its original condition and the player having to spend additional resources than if they had stopped upgrading after the maximum amount.
If an item is not upgraded the experience bar in the bar for growth will be reset to zero. The item will also lose any bonuses it has gained like crit chance, attack damage, or other effects (such as increased heal over time, or reloading speed). The player will be able to use their weapon or armor even after the failure.
If an item is upgraded, the upgrades are applied in order from the lowest to the highest. This means that when a weapon is upgraded, if it gains a crit chance increase, the increase will be applied before any damage to attack increases. A new attribute known as Slots has been added to the definition of the item and the value is calculated each time an upgrade is made.
The amount of resources needed to upgrade an item is determined by its rarity rating and upgrade slot count. The cost of upgrading equipment that is not premium is equal to its base value. For example an item of common use could have five upgrades for a price of. 25600 Technology Points 4x Quality Improvement Opportunity. Hero quality items have lower costs per upgrade.
Premium items have different upgrade requirements as compared to standard equipment, for instance, they might require fewer sowels, but more minerals and erons. Regardless, the player must visit the NPC [Armor] Boboko in Central Flarine with each piece of equipment they wish to upgrade. Each equipment upgrade will require different amounts of ingredients for upgrading, in addition to the costs that are listed above.
