Don’t be a dick (не будь козлом; распространён перевод не будь мудаком) — принцип, состоящий в том, что если какие-то действия человека регулярно вызывают возражения со стороны нейтральных людей, то эти действия участника являются социально неоптимальными, и ему следует скорректировать свою модель поведения, даже если во всех случаях формально он был прав.
В викисреду мем «Don’t be a dick!» был введён 27 января 2005 года участником английского раздела Википедии Phil Sandifer[2].
Название этого правило более-менее говорит само за себя. Хотя никто, в том числе и арбитражный комитет, не имеет специальных и особых полномочий банить или блокировать кого-либо за то, что он козёл, быть козлом попросту плохо. Обратите внимание, что определение, что такое быть козлом, не приводится. Это сделано умышленно. Достаточно сказать, что если значительное число разумных людей высказываются, резко или вежливо, что вы - козёл, весьма вероятно, что вы не совсем правы.

Эту тематику неплохо развил ГСБ в 2007 году, переведя английское эссе на Мете (а затем доработал его материал в 2009 году, добавив к нему некоторые пояснения). Страница эссе выставлялась на удаление в январе 2009 года участником Netrat, который аргументировал необходимость удаления страницы нецензурностью слова «му#ак». Во время обсуждения было дано 4 голоса «быстро оставить», 12 «оставить» и только 3 «удалить», в итоге эссе было оставлено Васильевым.[3]
Статья на эту тему в основном пространстве статей русской Википедии писалась Академией прогрессивных энциклопедистов, но была удалена. Была удалена в русской Википедии также статья Don't be a dick в википроектах.
Отмечается, что «можно быть абсолютно правым, но быть при этом мудаком», а также то, что «если бы все следовали этому правилу, большиство других правил были бы не нужны».
Правило «Don't be a dick» является вторым по важности правилом, регулирующим взаимоотношения участников в английской Абсурдопедии.[4] В олбанской Абсурдопедии адаптирован собственный вариант того же правила: «Не будь занудой».[5]
В настоящее время англоязычная версия переименована сторонниками политкорректности в более мягкое «Don't be a jerk». В русской версии также переименовывали «мудака» в «зануду», но впоследствии переименовали обратно. Кроме того, в исходной русской версии название было «Не будьте мудаком».
В русской Википедии на данную страницу существует мягкое перенаправление ВП:НБМ, которое дважды выставлялось к удалению и оставлялось.
