Does it cost money to play Old School Runescape?
I haven't played since middle school. I am a college junior currently and am feeling this odd desire to play again. But I really don't want to shell out money (on account of being a broke college student)

The content is free to you to play at no cost the way it was the old days. This was enough to keep me entertained for some time. Then you can pay monthly membership.
Once your game character is rich enough you can pay for membership using in game wealth. It's probably around 2mil per week. This is a significant amount that your early character cannot pay for however after a few months of paying the irl cash then you should be capable of generating the in-game cash needed.
Play for free. You can play for no cost in Free to Play worlds. These worlds are less rich in content than Members worlds. However you can purchase bonds in-game to gain 14-day Membership. The disadvantage is that having to work for/save money for bonds reduces the money you'll have to purchase new equipment or such but it's practical to do.
You can skip a cheeseburger meal once a month . There is membership
It takes about 10 hours to keep it running (100+) every 14 days, but it's completely free.
