Adam Driver and Lady Gaga brought out the inner animal in one another in House of Gucci , as the former revealed to EW that the pair improvised key elements of their wild sex scene in the heat of the moment.
The sequence comes early in the film at the start of the plot's central relationship between fashion empire heir Maurizio Gucci (Driver) and his new bride, Patrizia Reggiani (Gaga) , a working-class woman who intensely pursues Gucci after meeting him at a party — years before she was convicted for hiring an assassin to shoot him following the disintegration of their marriage.
"[Patrizia] very much uses sex as a tool, and I feel like it kind of physically embodies what's going on between them; he comes from this not necessarily emotionally vapid, but [his life is] not as passionate, and that's what she brought," Driver told us Tuesday night at the Ridley Scott -directed crime-drama's New York City premiere.
Preparing to shoot the scene was standard: "We blocked it out as we would any fight or any scene, then we just kind of ran it maybe once or twice, and that was it!" he said, playfully grinning when asked how they landed on the particular brand of animalistic noises that punctuate the sequence.
"We were feeling it, so to speak! Everything I say sounds like a double entendre, but, we winged it!" the 37-year-old Oscar nominee said with a laugh. "I will say also, at that point, we had been shooting for a month, so we felt very comfortable to go where we needed to go."
Driver also said that, though his beloved HBO series Girls turns 10 years old in 2022, he hasn't been involved in discussions about a potential reunion for creator Lena Dunham 's boundary-pushing HBO series: "No, not that I know of!"
Both Driver and Gaga received stellar reviews for their work in the film out of its Nov. 9 world premiere in London, with journalists touting the Academy Award-winning A Star Is Born actress as a potential Oscar contender for her work as the Italian "Black Widow," as Reggiani became known in the European press.
Other critical reactions praised supporting turns from Al Pacino as former label chairman Aldo Gucci, and Jared Leto as his son, Paolo, an outcast who bucked the brand's stuffy tradition.
"I immediately saw [Paolo] as a dreamer, the black sheep of his family, someone never really heard," Leto previously told EW of his take on the part, which he added "a lot of humor" to atop of enduring hours of prosthetic makeup work to recreate Paolo's balding head. He also said he became emotional on the last day of filming, and had to fight the urge to cry when Scott wrapped his scenes.
"I was successful in holding them back," he said. "I didn't want to embarrass the entire set, but it was a really warm and wonderful experience — collaborative, creative, full of risk and reward, just incredibly special."

Lady Gaga has admitted she has had flings with both women and men. In a video you can watch below, the singer told US chat show host Barbara Walters that she is bisexual, but admitted that she has only ever been in love with men. When Walters asked Gaga about her sexuality, she replied: “Well, I do like women.” The singer went on to state that ‘Poker Face’ ‘s subject was her fantasising about women. “That’s really what the song was all about – why when I was with my boyfriend was I fantasising about women?!” Walter then asked if Gaga had ever had sex with a women, to which she replied: “I’ve certainly had sexual relationships with women, yeah.” The singer also said her father thought she was mentally unstable after seeing her live show for the first time, although the pair are on good terms now ( ABC ).

Lady Gaga bucks hermaphrodite rumors by showing off her lady parts.
Aug. 17, 2009 — -- Lady Gaga may not be a he-she, but she sure is having fun with the rumors.
The playful pop star, whose lady-ness was affirmed by her manager earlier this month, poses nude in the September issue of Out magazine , showing off almost all of her, well, lady parts.
She also stands up for her gay fans. Talking about her upcoming, co-headlining tour with Kanye West , Gaga relayed to Out what she told the rapper/producer:
"I just want to be clear before we decide to do this together: I'm gay. My music is gay. My show is gay. And I love that it's gay. And I love my gay fans and they're all going to be coming to our show. And it's going to remain gay."
Gaga herself remains 100-percent woman, a fact that required reiteration after an up-skirt photo sparked rumors that she's a hermaphrodite. The photo, taken from video shot at England's Glastonbury festival, revealed a bulge between Gaga's legs -- a bulge that could have been caused by undergarments, a bad angle, or, as some blogs suggested, a penis.
Bossip.com alleged that Gaga said this when asked about the subject:
"It's not something that I'm ashamed of, just isn't something that I go around telling everyone. Yes. I have both male and female genitalia, but I consider myself a female. It's just a little bit of a penis and really doesn't interfere much with my life. The reason I haven't talked about it is that it's not a big deal to me. Like come on. It's not like we all go around talking about our v***. I think this is a great opportunity to make other multiple gendered people feel more comfortable with their bodies. I'm sexy, I'm hot. I have both a **** and a p*****. Big f******g deal."
When ABCNews.com asked Gaga's manager if the "Poker Face" singer is a hermaphrodite and if she said the above quote, he replied:
Gaga's sexuality has been the subject of intense speculation ever since she told Rolling Stone magazine that she considers herself bisexual, though her attraction to women is purely physical.
"I think I'm changing what people think is sexy," she told the magazine in May.
In June, she elaborated on the issue to USA Today, saying, "I don't think being gay or being bisexual or being sexually free is anything that should be hidden. Everybody has a right to their secrecy, of course, but I don't feel particularly shy about it. It is who I am. I sing very openly about it in my music, so I suppose I could say that I choose not to hide it in interviews because I don't care to hide it and, two, because it is very obvious in my music that I like women."
Today in Israel, a slightly more demure Gaga emerged. Covering up her skimpy top with a black leather jacket bearing a Star of David, the pop star told reporters she would tone down her sexpot image for the last show of her Fame Ball tour, scheduled for Wednesday in Tel Aviv.
But eventually, the party girl came out again. After calling Jerusalem "sacred and holy," Gaga added that she was more than to excited to see the city than to "get drunk in a bar," though she might "get drunk in Jerusalem."

Is Lady Gaga a hermaphrodite? Fans believe she revealed a sneak peak of her penis during a 2009 performance at Britain's Glastonbury festival.
Admittedly, it's hard to tell in the video below.
Yes, she is not wearing much over her pelvic area.
But according to since-deleted post on gossip site Bossip and mentioned on MTV's site , Lady GaGa allegedly confirmed her dual-genderism.
Though the quote below is un-sourced, and thus dubious:
"It's not something that I'm ashamed of, just isn't something that I go around telling everyone. Yes. I have both male and female genitalia, but I consider myself a female. It's just a little bit of a penis and really doesn't interfere much with my life. The reason I haven't talked about it is that it's not a big deal to me. Like come on. It's not like we all go around talking about our vags. I think this is a great opportunity to make other multiple gendered people feel more comfortable with their bodies. I'm sexy, I'm hot. I have both a poon and a peener. Big f*cking deal."

In a video from a 60 Minutes Overtime in 2011 while promoting her album Born This Way , Lady Gaga was asked by Anderson Cooper about the rumor that she had “a male appendage, that [she was] a hermaphrodite”.
The singer replied by saying: “Maybe I do. Would it be so terrible?
“Why the hell am I going to waste my time and give a press release about whether or not I have a penis? My fans don’t care and neither do I.”

While it is fantastic that Lady Gaga was able to shut down the Transphobic question with class and grace, the joke is really on anyone who believes Lady Gaga actually has a penis.
