They decided to incorporate the contactless card into their vehicles and to develop a system which would allow drivers to unlock and begin their vehicles by waving their hands. The result is the card key, that is now found on the majority of Renault vehicles. The card can be found inside the ignition barrel or the centre console the car will be unlocked when the card approaches and secure itself automatically when moved away. The keyless entry system
The hands-free card from Renault was a revolutionary piece of technology when it was introduced 20 years ago. The exterior is the same however the technology has been improved to make it easier to use and less vulnerable to hacking.
It's not possible to use it from outside to open doors or start the car until the driver turns it on.
