Pubic hair: Love it or hate it, we all have it -- unless we've removed it. And that means we all have opinions about it.
Though men's grooming habits are slowly becoming part of the pubic hair conversation, it's women's grooming routines that are most often under the microscope. At The Huffington Post, we're firm believers that everyone should groom (or not groom) for themselves, no matter what anyone else thinks.
That said, it's always interesting to find out what men's preferences are when it comes to hair down there. So, we teamed up with AskMen.com and conducted a survey , asking over 5,000 dudes about their pubic hair predilection. Below, we compiled the responses and a few standout comments into an infographic created by our own Jessica Kane . Scroll all the way to the bottom for our thoughts on the matter.
Interestingly, 84 percent of the men surveyed had a preference when it came to a woman's pubic hair, but only 9 percent would end a date or sex because of a women's grooming habits -- so they must not care all that much. And of the men polled, a whopping 88 percent do some grooming of their own. It looks like men's pubic hair could soon be an even hotter topic than women's.
But at the end of the day, this is how women feel about men's pubic hair preferences:
The survey was conducted on AskMen.com from May 28- June 1, 2015. A total of 5,199 men were surveyed. The age breakdown was as follows: Under 18 (1.77 percent), between 18-24 (21.91 percent), between 25-34 (32.6 percent), between 35-44 (21.91 percent), between 45-64 (20.10 percent) and over 65 (1.71 percent).

What Do Guys Think Of Pubic Hair? I Grew A Bush To Find Out By Betches Staff | February 9, 2018

Everything about the 90’s is coming back right now: Choker necklaces. Jean skirts. John Stamos. People are essentially dressing like Bruno Mars, but unironically. Also, the bush is maybe coming back in style? No, not the George W. kind. (I’m talking about pubic hair.) In the 70’s and 80’s, it was all about the apple bottoms jeans and cooch with the fur. In the 90’s, women would trim and clip-clip-hooray. By the early 2000’s it was the landing strip, which also served as an arrow saying “come on down!” in a Bob Barker voice.
Then the dot com boomed happened, and porn was no longer something men stumbled upon by finding an old Playboy magazine with the pages stuck together. Millennial men learned how to have sex from Kim Kardashian and Ray J, which actually explains a lot now that I think about it.
It’s estimated that around 25% of all internet searches are for porn . Why is this relevant? Because of the rapid rise of internet porn, directors started having their talent shave everything down to baby smoothness. It started out as a visibility issue, because if you remember the late 90s and early 2000s, online video wasn’t exactly HD. But with bald bits, audiences could clearly see every salacious angle.
So boys grew up jacking it to fully exposed clitorises (yet can never seem to find them). Eventually, they went from Boyz to Men and grew up expecting women to mimic their porny counterparts. We fucking did it for some reason, and didn’t question how weird it was—like Snoop Dogg and Martha Stewart’s friendship.
Anyway, six weeks ago I put down the razor, saved the bikini wax money, and grew out a bush. Note to all bushy betches looking to try this at home: it takes well over a month to really get the bird’s nest aesthetic, or at least it did for me.
Next came the highly scientific experiment: What would guys think of my bush? I’ve gone through wintertime dick cleanses where my leg hair was long enough to donate to Locks of Love, but this was the first time I had really had left my grass uncut in a decade. My semi-slutty sorority days are long gone, so it’s not like Chad from Sig Ep (who has Pornhub as his homepage) is going to give a shit. The guys I’m dating are in their late twenties and early thirties. I learned they like their woman to look like just that—a woman.
No guys said anything about my furry wonder down under while we were fooling around, but I brought it up during pillow talk. You know, romance. I was slightly nervous before the big bush debut, but I also knew no man was going to be super into me and suddenly change his mind and decline his exclusive invite to club shrub.
The first time was late at night and the lights were mostly off, so the big reveal wasn’t that dramatic. I’m sure he felt a difference, but he was a happy camper. The next time, the guy started fingering me with my jeans still on and tried to be sexy and said, “oh, you have hair down there. I’m low-key into that.” One guy actually said he liked it better than fully shaved, because the resulting stumble is apparently unpleasant when he’s down there doing the Lord’s work.
The verdict is in: one dude said he was a little surprised but definitely happy with it, one dude thought it made me super cool and confident, and one dude might have a fetish he’s not owning up to. They all kept calling though.
Verdict: I suggest experimenting with hair down there as much as you did with purple eyeshadow in the seventh grade.

Men Overwhelmingly Prefer Women With NO Pubic Hair (Says Sad New Survey)
Men Overwhelmingly Prefer Women With NO Pubic Hair (Says Sad New Survey)
By Jeena French — Written on May 02, 2017
If you're a single woman who never gets a phone or a text after having sex with a guy you've been dating for some time, chances are that he wasn't just using you — it just might he didn't like the way you groom your vagina .
I know it sounds kind of crazy, but it does make for an interesting way to explain why you're still single.
You've now got a reason. You can blame your pubes .
When it comes to pubic hair and vaginas , and how much you dare to bare, especially if you're into men under the age of 40, it matters.
The odds are stacking against the natural woman who dares to go full bush, or maybe even just half a bush.
Sadly, the modern male, who might not have an opinion on your outfit, definitely cares how your vagina looks, and we're not talking camel toe.
Nope. When it comes down to getting freaky, hairy is out, and smooth is in.
That's right, ladies. hairy vaginas are the ultimate turn off for a man , and recent findings prove it.
In a recent survey of 4,146 males ages of 18 and 35 taken from Cosmopolitan's social media accounts , Esquire's Twitter, and AskMen's Facebook, men revealed that they are very particular about the way their partners groom their lady bits .
Most men, no matter how much they love your mind or personality, are unwilling to compromise when it comes to their woman's vagina. And, most of them want it naked with nothing in the way of their next greatest meal.
Of the males who reported liking pubic hair neatly trimmed, they also shared that the degree of hair present on their labia could, and very well would be a dating deal breaker!
So single ladies, if your hair is long enough to break through the fabric of your panties, or as a waxer would warn, longer than the size of a grain of rice, it's too long for most men.
There are certainly more pros than cons to keeping things less hairy in your land down under, especially if you live in a warmer or humid climate.
Less hair means less sweat, but at the same time, shaving and waxing aren't considered the best practice for a happy vagina.
And if you've ever been to a waxer, it's not exactly pain-free. Ouch! Pubic hair provides a natural layer of protection for women and keeps the labia from getting a rash. So, for women who are prone to sensitive skin, there might not be a choice, the hair must be there.
Apparently, women are adapting to what males want, and risking their own vaginal health in spite of it all.
In fact, another recent study on pubic hair grooming released last year published by JAMA Dermatology revealed that 83.8 percent of women between the ages of 18 to 65 groom their hair regularly — a number that is on the rise — with the majority of those women being between the ages of 18 to 34.
I guess it's a man's world after all.
Which makes you wonder if the men finding women who don't meet their pubic grooming preference are simply unlucky for the moment — sorry, fellas!
The truth is that there really is a stigma about female body hair, and the survey shows that American women are obsessed with being hairless, when compared to women in some other countries who never shave at all.
The bottom line is for women in new relationships who have wondered how to groom yourself for that special overnight date with your new boyfriend — shaving it all off is in your favor.
You don't have to ask what he likes. Chances are, he very well may be within the majority of males who prefer nude to hairy.
And, if you tell him you forgot to shave just when things are at the next level, he just might really mind, even if he says he doesn't.
But, you have enough to worry than whether or not your pubic hair meets his standards. Do what makes you happy, and most comfortable.
If he doesn't accept you the way that you are, trust me, there's someone out there who will, hair and all.

Goya's "The Nude Maja" has been considered as probably the first European painting to show woman's pubic hair
Whether for fashion, appearance, hygiene or just personal taste, most women now get rid of pubic hair. Some only have a little “tidy-up” while others have no second thoughts about going completely bald down there. But whatever a woman’s decision and the reason behind it most women have wondered at least once what men think about pubic hair.
The “hair” issue can be daunting during the first stages of a relationship as some people can take a very strong stand with their likes and dislikes. Here we are going to talk about people who have a strong opinion on the subject.
If you are ever bold enough to ask your partner how would he like your Venus Mound , you will be surprised at his answers and how much you learn about his personality with such a simple question. For a start, his answers might range from:
· “La Totale” , he is very meticulous and won’t accept anything else but bald. He is glad you finally asked because he did not know how to tell you!
· “ You are perfect like that” , he is either completely in love with you and accepts you no matter how or he is desperate and just thankful that you are there.
· “Leave it to grow”, he thinks that pubic hair adds mystery to a woman’s anatomy. Certain souls are more susceptible to the works of Mother Nature and prefer to ignore certain parts of the body that should be hidden anyway.
· “Can you manage a diamond shape” , now he is either a compulsive card player or a jeweller.
· “ Brazilian please ”, now he is either planning for a beach holiday or he just had a holiday with a Brazilian girl.
· “ what about dying it pink ”, he is 100% crazy.
· “ Later, can you get me a beer now, my team is about to score ”, needless to say, you should be changing partners ASAP.
I do prefer a very trimmed and even a waxed look down there but I had to try the Betty Beauty Hair Coloring Kit above I was just too curious to let it pass. The results? It worked really well, it lasted less than a month but I got enough for three applications out of my package, which is not bad considering the price.
A thumbs-up product for hiding grey hair or simply updating to a fun-colour like blue or pink.
· “Personally I prefer hairless fashion. At the start, my girlfriend didn’t until I managed to ask her to go shave ALL pubic hair”
· “A woman should keep some pubic hair, otherwise, it is ugly to see all the bits hanging like an open wound”
· “The bald look reminds me too much of a young girl, it puts me off”
· “The metro ticket, that’s perfect for me”.
· “Hairs put me off, it looks dirty”
· “I cannot stand a mouth full of hair, iagh.”
· “I am very visual, with hair all over the place I cannot see anything”
· “Women should shave 100% including the rear area”
· “I love shapes, it shows me that she has made an effort to impress me, like for Christmas when my girlfriend had a Christmas tree design there”
· “I like shaving her myself, it is part of the foreplay when we are in the shower”
· “The less the better for me, with fewer obstacles in the way it is easier to find the sensitive points”
· “I don’t care, as long as it’s not a jungle, I couldn’t care less”
· “No hair is better for oral sex, if she asks me I would shave too!”
· “I like a hairy woman, it gives her a wild side, like an Amazon warrior”
Although not my preferred method, I do shave from time to time. I have tried many brands and by far, my favourite one is the Gillette Venus Extra Smooth Swirl Women's Razor. The blade refills are easy to change and they just glide over your skin. I also notice that with this brand I get less "accidents" probably due to its ribbon of moisture around the blade which helps protect from cuts.
They are more expensive than most disposable razors but are well worth the money.
Valentine or Sweetheart pubic hair style
If you are shaving your private parts this can be a lot of fun. Newjinda (Amazon product above) offers a Bikini Trimmer Shaver for Women with a heart, straight and triangle styling moulds, to create special shapes. This has been my preferred brand as the moulds are way smaller than the other brands and you only need to buy it once and then just use it with any other shaver. In fact, I preferred using it with a different razor.
Did you know that there is such a thing as a Pubic Hair Wig? Believe it or not, YES, it is called a Merkin and had been used for centuries by women who didn't have pubic hair!
Kate Winslet revealed in an interview that she had used one during the making of the film "The Reader. " Heidi Klum has also been known for wearing a red-heart shaped merkin.
The pubic wig is not a new invention, it has been around since the 1400s when it was originally worn by women who had shaved their pubic hair off to prevent lice.

"You are perfect like that" means he's desperate?? Should have just stopped while you were ahead with the "he's in love with you" reason. That's what it is. Why does is have to be a bad thing if he loves a woman the way she is? "Desperate"?

I like to see the pubic hair removed, in fact I often remove my pubic hairs.
Deborah Demander from First Wyoming, then THE WORLD on February 19, 2019:
For many years, I shaved from stem to stern. Arm pits, legs, pubs, every single day.
Then, my man suggested getting waxed. So I let the jungle grow to get waxed, and for about a year, i got everything waxed clean.
Lately, he's requested growing back a big patch, so I'm experimenting with different shapes. It's been fun!
James A Watkins from Chicago on February 15, 2019:
I read somewhere that the hairless pubes thing started with pornography. The idea was to pass off young women as being prepubescent to appeal to a certain kind of pervert.
Umesh Chandra Bhatt from Kharghar, Navi Mumbai, India on February 14, 2019:
They can't replace the original coca cola, and that goes for women's pubic hair. It serves a function, and without it, a women looks like a little girl. Just like men that are balding decide to shave what is left off. They then look like cancer survivors. Or the men that grow what is left into a pony tail. None of these approaches beat the original.

I've been reading various hubs for several weeks now, but this is the one that got me to join and make a comment.
First off -- Thanks, Princessa, for starting this discussion so long ago. It's a Been good discussion, and quite provocative and insightful.
Second -- thanks to everyone who has participated for not only offering your insights and opinions, but being respectful of the comments and ideas of others. I think that's why this article can still generate comments even though it was started so long ago.
A number of things have caught my eye as I've read the article and the comments. One is natural color of pubic hear. As a rule (and as we all know, there are exceptions) I've found that people's pubic hair is often a more intense version of their "more visible" hair. And on the specific topic of redheads that people brought up, I will say that I've known several natural redheads whose pubic hair was brighter and more intense (sometimes even "orange," as some have said) as their visible hair. I will also say that pubic hair is often the ultimate proof of whether a person's hair color is natural, or a product of Ms. Clairol, et al. I'm also not in favor of the dying of pubic hair.
As for my own personal desires in this topic -- I've found that I've not had one set desire. Rather, I've found that of the various women I've been involved with intimately, the presence / absence of pubic hair was just one more component of whom they were / are. It's the choice they made in that area, one I found myself comfortable with. For most women (and I'm assuming men, too, though you rarely hear about men being voluntary bald down there), th
