They had burned his brother at the stake for heresy; they had threatened him with a similar fate for making vital medical discoveries. But Dr. Antonio Servetus would not give up his search for scientific truth, so the Inquisition set out to trap and destroy him. When every other effort failed, they decided to force him to sign a false confession by making him watch the torture of the woman he loved!

A little cliche in some parts but overall quite good. A good look at the Inquisition. Which was a dark time in the history of the Catholic Church.

Human story of a great French woman of science in the early 1700s.

The author has woven a human story of Emilie Du Chatelet's life of scientific achievements. Her early life with a single parent (father) in the court of Louis XV, marriage to Richelieu and lover to Voltaire. Such a good read - I've read it twice and will undoubtedly read it again.
