Directions of Economic and Regional Development Discussed

On July 30, 2025, Deputy Ministers of Economy and Finance of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Khurshed Mustafayev and Umid Abidkhadjaev, held a meeting with Suma Chakrabarti, Advisor to the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan on economic development, effective governance and international cooperation.

The meeting was also attended by Mandeep Bains, Advisor on Economic Development and Strategy at the Project Office, Khojiislom Mukhtarov, Specialist at the Agency for Strategic Reforms, as well as several responsible officials from the Ministry.

During the negotiations, the parties exchanged views on current economic agenda issues, including the demographic dividend, labor market, development of the green economy, the pace of infrastructure project implementation, and the introduction of new initiatives in strategically important areas.

Additionally, discussions covered Uzbekistan's potential accession to the Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative (EITI), mechanisms for sustainable regional development, and the effective implementation of investment programs.

Following the meeting, the parties agreed to continue dialogue on the outlined areas.
