I don't typically like fragrances with tropical fruity notes, but this one is lovely! However, the lasting power is AWFUL. Most of my body sprays last longer and have more projection than this perfume. It's so disappointing as I really do like the scent.
When I first smelled this scent at Ulta, I was throughly impressed with the very fresh, sharp, and powerful opening - so much so that I went ahead and purchased a 100ml bottle at a discounter. Upon receiving the bottle I applied it and enjoyed the fresh opening only to discover the unpleasant,...
This a great dupe of Layton especially for the price it’s crazy good. They got the warm spice spot on, fruity sweetness, less vanilla sweetness compared to layton and doesn’t have tht subtle fresh sparkle that Layton has….I layer this on top of Lalique white in black and I feel you get as close...
It's interesting this is considered by some to be representative of it's time i.e. the 80's. I say that because during that time this stuff wasn't considered special by anyone that I can recall. There were so many better options, and still are. Just sayin...
I got a sample from micro perfumes and thought it was a pleasant rich floral that dried to a faint vanilla musk with medium performance... I watches for a used bottle on ebay then splurged on a 90% full bottle with silver trim and top knot.... I'm not sure what year the used addict was from...
Love this perfume. I wear it only on occasions as it’s expensive and I want it to last. Loved it since it was first released. An iconic scent.
I heard that once this dries down, that Savage Elixir layers really well on top, so I bought a bottle to try it out. I can confirm this is absolutely true. I don’t understand the how or the why but it is a special kind of magic and I’m indebted to whomever made that suggestion. By itself I’m not...
Another hyped perfume by YouTubers. To me, It's a fresh spicy, and peppery rose. That peppery and spicy part fades quickly, becoming a rosy and slightly fruity-lipsticky perfume that has been done in many designer fragrances before. The price-quality ratio here is just unbelievable!
Cool bottle but that’s about it. Alcohol mess upfront and cheap smelling dry down of chemical woody powder. It was 12 dollars for a reason I guess. Reminds me of a cheaper version of a Tommy Bahama flanker! 3/10
You know when as a kid you smell an adult fragrance ? This to me has that vibe .. the kind of something that you smell on department store and it gives off an expensive feel because you're young back then and couldn't purchase it, because my family only uses fragrance when going out and...
I was loosely hoping this would be a Replica Tea Escape dupe/cute, gently sweetened matcha n biscuits scent, and it sorta was, but the ginger, floral and balsamic aspects combined came off quite... Traditional Chinese Medicine to me? I love myself an invigorating herbal scent every now and then,...
Woody with a hint of addicting sweetness as well... It lasts about 3 hours as a skin scent on me, although I think this is one that would perform better on clothing. For the price point, the sillage is not great. The scent itself is very comforting & cozy. It does lean slightly masculine...
Alas! I have been able to try this. Pros: Beautiful tuberose bomb with a resinous amber accord and a substantial cashmeran base: sounds great! And it is. It’s strong and dense and I like it. Cons: It’s heavy & dense. It does last, but I don’t think it projects as well as the usual suspects...
Very strong mature fragrance. It concerns me a bit because it is a toilette but still very strong. It’s not a fragrance for the faint hearted and I think would be most suited for women 50+ 4.5/10
Graveyard at midnight, a Funeral during rain, old damp wine cellar, lifting an old rotten piece of wood that's wet. The mental imagery this scent produces is quite outstanding. This is the type of fragrance that you either love or hate, because it's so Unique and specific. Not everyone...
yes, but, even if you had this bottle of 1.4 LITERS (wowsa) of perfume -- how in the world would you wear it? or wouldn't you?
Thank You for this article: I usually shy away from reading about Niche scents since I know that I will never own any, & priced out of my reach. Also the term Niche itself means exclusivity or at least is implied & so I figure, why bother? Is there ever a time when Niche is a welcoming...
Excuse me, are you so insane, or, you are so insane, I think: Give me Paris Hilton. Yea, look at your price tage, I'm a perfume maniac, but, can or will I want a perfume that is this expensive? Or, are your buyers group queing up for this thing? I'm just so very disapponted. And, shame...
Absolutely loved this article, from the writing to the beautiful and haunting illustrations, to the fantastic descriptions of unique scents.
YSL...just release Kouros Fraicheur again and stop with these kind of useless releases.
i just tried the demanding "behind closed doors" and it is indeed an intriguing experience. if you can wait for the dry-down -- as i said, it is a demanding perfume and the journey is a bit rocky -- it becomes *the* most animalic, unabashedly raunchy, "sex in a bottle" scent...
I am always reminded of Luca Turin's point that chemicals and fragrances have no genitalia. If it smells great, and you think it smells good on you--whatever your gender is--you should wear it.
Sounds great! I'll might pick up a bottle. Thanks Miguel!
Fantastic article! Loved it. I always learn so much from everything Elena writes.
Clea is a beautiful perfume, and while I can understand the comparison to Chanel 5, this is is really a different fragrance. Clea has no peach note. She starts soapy and ends with a smoky vetiver. True class and comforting.
Just saw a review for this in YouTube. Hope to try it soon!
They brought back Dream Angels Divine one year recently for a Semi-Annual Sale, and I got it. It smells like Dove soap! (That's not a bad thing.) The documentary series on Hulu about Victoria's Secret is really interesting for those who want to learn more about the company.
Not sure if my response fits the ‘subject’ of this Article but! All this ‘sustainability’ and ‘Vegan’ stuff has been pushed heavily by a certain house called ‘Paco Rabanne’ - So, take Phantom for instance, you cannot refill the 50ML or the 100ML but you can refill the 150ML bottle. Now, let’s...
I've really enjoyed this Q&A article Patric! I really love all that he said about creating/creation so I will save this article to re-read. I have a friend who wrote an article about being creators/producers verses just being consumers, and it's stuck with me for years. This is very...
Didn't know that they actually released 100ml's for this. To me, the €315 for Tero is more worth than the $349 for Crush on Me. For those looking for a more masculine caramel-patchouli, Crush on Me is certain to be better. But for women and for people that prefer to have a gourmand-like...
For me, Honey Aoud by Montale and Angel Men: Pure Havane by Mugler
Saw this on Jo.aShop for about $70 for a tester, was contemplating if to get this or Royal Night at $49 went back the next morning it had went to $86 and Royal to $51.Ended up getting Royal & Moustache EDP.Im very happy with my purchases,I intend to put this on my must have list right next...
@Adam_Forziati Thanks, that was really helpful.
With a name like "Burnt Hair", what notes would this fragrance even have??
I found a set of Shalimar Light a few years after it was discontinued at a discount store. It had some chips on the bottle, but they were just surface, so it was a great bargain. When I sprayed it the first time, I felt immediately that it smelled exactly like my Shalimar cologne smelled in the...
