If you go into the shower with a water-based lubricant, it's going to just wash right off of your toy and be useless. The best type of lube to bring into the shower is going to be a silicone-based lubricant . Silicone-based lube is water-resistant so it won't slide right off of your toy when you put it on. It also tends to last longer than other types of lube so that's a bonus too.

Just remember that silicone-based lube can NOT be used on your toy if your toy is made from silicone too. The material will start deteriorating if you put silicone lube on a silicone toy. So, if you have a silicone waterproof toy - you can bring the water based lube into the shower with you. Just be prepared to reapply often!
