Digital linguist: how to teach robots to speak human language
rbctrendsUntil 2030, Russia has a National Strategy for the Development of AI. It requires not only developers, but also digital linguists. We tell you who they are, why they are important, and how to master this profession
Who is a digital linguist A digital (or computer) linguist is a specialist who processes data in natural languages for machine learning algorithms, including neural networks. Thanks to such processing and the subsequent work of data scientists, machines 'learn' to recognize the human language and make automatic translations from one human language to another, identify errors in texts, turn oral speech into written speech, correctly respond to voice commands, answer questions in chatbots. For example, to teach algorithms to find errors, a digital linguist processes a huge array of text data, in which he marks out the correct and incorrect versions of word usage. He works on creating electronic dictionaries and thesauri, optical character recognition — when the machine reads text data from images and makes them editable. Thanks to the work of digital linguists, there is a National Corps of Russian...
