Stanley writing two letters to his mother. The first one is him lying to his mother and the second is the one where he is being honest.
Today was the first day at
camp, and I’ve already made some friends. We’ve been out on the lake all day,
so I’m pretty tired. Once I pass the swimming test, I’ll get to learn how to
water-ski. I am getting used to the weather here and the camp is just like camp
fun and games. The people here are extremely kind and funny, and we all have
nicknames for each other. Mine is Caveman. The food is also extraordinary and
they have a variety of meals. The showers here are amazing, the water supply is
really strong and there is hot water too.
Some of my friends are Zero,
X- Ray, Squid and Armpit. There are even many others. Everyone is making me
feel very comfortable and making me feel at home. I really like it here but I
really miss you. How is everyone at home? Have any of dad’s experiments worked
out yet? How’s Grandpa doing?
Please write back ASAP. And
don’t worry about me I really like it here.
In my last letter I lied
to you, but the truth is I want to leave this camp as soon as possible. The
living conditions here are terrible. We have to sleep in a small cot which
smells like expired sour milk. The weather here is extremely scorching there is
no shade here. There is also scarcity of water.
The boys here are actually
really friendly but can be mean at times. I am a good friends with Zero, Armpit
and Squid. Don’t worry those are not actually their real names, everyone had nicknames
here. My nickname is caveman currently as I just dug my first hole.
You are probably thinking
there is a huge lake here. Well there is no lake in camp green lake. It dried
up many years ago. There spiders, scorpions, rattlesnakes and yellow spotted
lizards which are the deadliest of all. One bite of the lizard and there is no
recovering.
Everyday all the campers have
dig 5 feet deep and 5 feet wide holes in the dried up lake, under the blazing
sun. My first experience was terrifying, I got blisters all over my hands. It’s
really challenging and really not easy to do.
The heads are okeydokey
except for Mr.Sir . He is really horrifying, he has a big black beard and is
really mean to all the campers. On the other hand Mr. Pendanski is really nice to the campers and is very
welcoming.
Im sorry I lied to you, but
please try to get me out of this camp. Give everyone my best. I love you.
