Saying that penises are no longer such a big deal might be true but for a man to talk about his own penis, its ups and downs (no pun intended... wait! on second thought...) and his own relationship with it, now that's a different ball game all together. The very subject of this documentary is still very taboo among men and finding such a candid, fun, mature and, well, enlightening take on it is down right refreshing. Each and everyone interviewed has his own perception on the subject. Therefore this documentary offered a wide spectrum of stand points which highlights one conclusion: there is no right or wrong answers. Every men could relate to their own opinions/self here and many women/men could recognise their own husbands/lovers too. This may not be Earth shattering work but it certainly deserves some attention and in fact could potentially be quite helpful to some. Once again HBO dared...

One ride with Doc Brown back to the caveman days would probably shed some truth on the fact that men and the size of their dicks have been a fascination since even before someone rubbed some sticks together to create fire. It's not hard to believe that back then, before science, the bigger the dick meant the more procreation a man could do. Since creating humans was what our ancestors were all about, the Big Dick Richie's of the world were favored. Yes, there's no absolute truth to any of that but we all know that guys packing a lot more have always been seen as the alphas, and well...guys with smaller peckers have been cast aside to sit in shame. This is why guys with smaller offerings tend to go above and beyond when they do find a partner that truly believes it "isn't the size of the boat but the motion in the ocean." We've all heard the saying, but why is that?
Why do men with smaller penises tend to work overtime when in fact, it's what you do with it that matters? Um, society. That's why. In fact, I don't even think it's the people who sleep with men who came up with the notion that bigger means better when it comes to the size of a dick. It was men. It had to have been. You know that's the truth. Dudes have always had the upper hand on just about everything in society and a long time ago they made sure that the size of their junk would matter more than anything else. A bad personality? Who cares, he's got a huge dick. Well, men and that horny as hell group of ladies from Sex and the City.
With all of that said, men with smaller dicks have had to be extra in bed because they have centuries of small dick stigma to make up for. We're not even talking about the micropenis men of the world. That's a whole other level. We're talking about the guys who are coming at you with a hard four-inch cock. Four inches when erect isn't even that small. According to Lloyds Pharmacy, the average hard cock is anywhere from 4.7-6.3 inches. So four isn't that far behind. Nevertheless, dudes with small dicks are out there doing the most and there are more reasons other than society as to why.
One bad incident in the locker room growing up and that guy was shook for life. Now he feels he has to overcompensate for everything, especially when it comes to pleasing his partner in the bedroom. He's never gotten over the shame of being "less than" and until he finds a partner who tells him the size of his dick is just fine - he's going to try as hard as the Little Engine's tired ass.
They too believe that bigger is better and do not realize that as long as they do the moves justice, everything will be good in the hood. Because they don't believe in the power of the peen, no matter the size, they tend to try harder than they really need to.
According to good ol' Lloyds again, almost 50% of men are walking around thinking they have a smaller than average dick. So riddle us this, if almost half of the men out there believe they have a small dick but are still going hard, that must mean they don't care and are just doing it up in the bedroom because they're okay with the size they're rocking. Which isn't a bad thing! A confident man is the hottest kind there is.

But despite its outsized profile in the popular imagination, the male member still has a few secrets left to reveal. From penis spines to the ideal size and even penis shame, here are eight wild facts about the male sex organ.

The average erect penis is about 5.56 inches (14 cm) long, according to a 2013 study detailed in the Journal of Sexual Medicine that surveyed 1,661 men. But variety is the spice of life, and men in that study had members that ranged from 1.6 inches (4cm) long to 10.2 inches (26 cm) long.
Not all erections were created equal. Those who measured their penises after oral sex or intercourse sported larger penises than those who relied on fantasy alone, the study found.
And because it reduces blood flow to the penis, smoking can shorten the average penis by up to 0.4 inches (1 cm), other studies have found.
When it comes to penises, size does matter — at least for some women. Women who are more likely to have vaginal orgasms say it is easier to orgasm with men who have longer penises, according to a 2012 study published in the Journal of Sexual Medicine. Though it's not clear exactly why, a longer penis may be better able to stimulate the vagina and the cervix, study co-author Stuart Brody, a psychologist at the University of the West of Scotland, told LiveScience at the time. In a 2013 study detailed in the journal Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, researchers reported women said the ideal penis size varied with a man's height, with a larger organ looking better on taller men.
Very rarely, a man may be born with two penises, a condition that affects every 5 million to 6 million males and is known as diphallus. Unfortunately, this condition doesn't mean double the fun: Both organs are rarely fully functional, and the condition often comes along with other anomalies in the genital area that require surgery to correct.
Men with another penis condition called priapism suffer from a persistent erection that won't go away after four hours. Usually the cause is a failure of blood to return from the penis to the rest of the body, although it is also occasionally found in those with sickle-cell anemia or leukemia. The situation is usually a medical emergency that requires a shot of pseudoepinephrine to constrict the smooth muscles in the penis.
The penis may have been a lot scarier in humans' evolutionary past. At one point in time, the male penis had spines , but human ancestors lost those prickly structures before Neanderthals and modern humans diverged some 700,000 years ago, according to a 2010 study published in the journal Nature. Scientists aren't clear on the function of those spines, but some propose they allowed for quickies because they can create an erection quickly, and are more common in promiscuous species, such as cats (tomcats have rather terrifying spines on their penis).
Another relic of times past is the penis bone, or baculum. Though most apes have a bone to keep their member erect, human males lost theirs at some point and now rely on blood pressure for stiffness.
