This was a tremendous documentary. I wish it received more attention. What a wonderful trainer Dick Russell seemed to be. I am glad for the people of Louisiana that he was able to pass on his teaching but I sure wish I was able to have learned how to train like him. I love all animals and volunteer at an animal shelter. Have had pets all my life but I would love to know how to train like this. What really struck me in this film was how this man was following his passion, what he was here on earth to do. He seemed to be a lot more than a dog trainer. Couldn't we all benefit from someone like this? Great film.

I am only giving 3 stars - this was an excellent story about a man who devoted his time helping people train their dogs- that Part would be a 5 Star.
Why I only gave it a 3 is why do all the people that make movies with the music so loud you sometimes can't hear what the people are saying. Background music should be just that, music in the background played softly so you can hear what the people care saying. I wear hearing aids and many times can't make out what the actors are saying with the music so loud. Tone it down for people that care hearing impaired. Tone it down, please.

Excellent documentary! If you love dogs, this is a must see! I was mesmerized by this documentary and wish I could have known Dick Russell in life. This film introduced me to a man I had not heard of previously. What a kind, humorous and gentle man Dick Russell was. The way he trains dogs gently and with pure common sense is amazing. His love of dogs, his gift for training them, his honesty and integrity as a businessman, is a rare blessing we will seldom find in the harsh world we live in today. In both the documentary and online, I found out Dick trained an estimated 30,000 dogs during his 50-year career with a money back guarantee no less. Dick Russell leaves a legacy of being the ultimate dog whisperer! 5 stars!

He may have personally trained 30,000 dogs, but through sharing his knowledge, the lives he saved must be uncountable. God bless him for welcoming dog owners regardless of their ability to pay. He made it truly all about the dogs. Touching lives, even after being gone from this earth,is a fine legacy to have left behind. Good to know that others are carrying on in his footsteps. He left the world a better place than he found it. If only we all would do the same.

Generosity of spirit, when combined with knowledge and skill, can take a person far in life. It can make him a legend. You don't have to be a dog person, specifically, to benefit from Dick Russell's story, but thousands of happy dogs and humans have him to thank for their own fulfilling lives.

I sadly just missed being able to meet or work with Dick Russell, he got ill again and passed away before I had the chance (don't let life pass you bye - make time to do the things you say you want to go do before you can't do them). I have had the honor to hear so many great stories from everyone that had the pleasure to work with him so he still lives on today. Glad I was able to see the movie, I missed our IACP conference last year where they showed it (just as well so I could cry at home instead).
