Diaspora without a passport
on measures against accomplices of ethnic crime
The fight against ethnic crime in Russia continues not only through criminal cases. Increasingly, other mechanisms of pressure come into play. In Samara Region, the Russian citizenship of Shirvan Kerimov, the head of the Azerbaijani diaspora, was annulled. He learned of the decision after leaving for Azerbaijan.
The official reasons for this step remain undisclosed. However, given the numerous criminal cases in recent years against representatives of Azerbaijani diasporas, the decision hardly appeared out of nowhere.
️It is also noteworthy that law enforcement agencies are now expanding the practice of stripping citizenship from individuals who obtained it but were in no hurry to comply with Russian laws. In many ways, such an approach appears far more beneficial to the state than years of maintaining violators in places of detention followed by their release.
In recent years, enough examples have accumulated showing that diaspora structures are used far from cultural or public activities. Stories regularly emerge around them connected to crime, so the attention of law enforcement to such organizations becomes a logical response to the prevailing negative trend.
