Before I begin on any of the why part I want to say first of all… Do not say no to the diapers. No matter what the reason, saying no will just lead to them hiding them. It won’t stop them using them. In fact they probably have been using them previously anyway, and are asking because they are afraid of getting caught or concerned about how they can keep things safe.

This depends on the person in question as different people have diffent reasons for it. Usually the reasoning is split into:
if it’s necessity then it obvious why they’re wearing them as they simply can’t control themselves.
if it’s sexual desire then that’s also obvious. People have different fetishes and what they like is what they like and usually can’t be changed.
If its emotional though the reason will most likely be a lot more elaborate and sometimes even the person who’s wearing diapers won’t understand. Wearing diapers can help someone regress which mean they mentally revert to a younger age and act that age to feel safe, secure etc. This can be caused from a large variety of things and it’s seriousness depends on the person’s experiences.

As a teenager I rarely had the opportunity to wear diapers at night, but always had a strong urge. As a kid, my father was always busy at work and I was always with my mother. When my brother was born I was no longer the center of attention and then I had to start school and grow up which was difficult. I was always teased in school. Wearing diapers was a subconscious symbol of missed childhood and brought feelings of security and comfort. Though I ended up being ABDL, it is something that has lessened somewhat with age.
