Really annoyed by having to switch to Google Chat. I've used Hangouts since the beginning and I'm going to miss it terribly. Chat is hard to use visually with the left alignment and no clear distinction between different people. Plus the all white (or all black) look is hard on the eyes. The only good news is that it is a separate app from my email, which would have been a damn nightmare!

The search feature is nice, but that's where it ends. The text being all on the left side is very annoying, especially without text bubbles, it's hard to tell who's speaking. Spaces and chats being merged is very annoying. Hangouts is MUCH better than Google Chat, there's no reason to replace it. They should have just added the new features to Hangouts... The UI is hideous and the app is very slow on computer and mobile. Don't "make google chat better", bring back hangouts. This isn't an upgrade

It works well enough, but the app is divided into Chats and Spaces. Opening aessage notification requires you to move into the Spaces section rather than taking you straight to the message you saw in the notification. Also, sharing images isnt as good as other apps that let you send full or near-full resolution; Chat shrinks any sent image and lowers the quality.
