DerpFest 15 - Galaxy A71 4G Installation Guide

Prerequisites:

On your phone:

• Unlocked Bootloader
• Patched vbmeta (see TWRP post on XDA)

On your PC:

• Odin or Heimdall
• platform-tools, downloadable from Google directly. DO NOT USE MINIMAL ADB.

Installation Instructions:

• Turn off the phone.
• Boot into download mode: Hold Vol+ and Vol- buttons together whilst plugging in the USB cable at the same time.
• Flash the recovery: If you want to use Odin, use the provided recovery.tar file and put it in the AP slot. If you want to use Heimdall instead, download the recovery.img file and run the following command:

heimdall flash --RECOVERY recovery.img --no-reboot

• Boot into recovery: Restart the phone with the Power and Vol- button combo and, as soon as the screen goes black, switch to holding Power and Vol+ to boot into the just flashed DerpFest recovery.
• Format data: Press on Factory reset and then choose Format data/factory reset.
• Flash the ROM: Press on Install Update, and then ADB Sideload. After having done so, open the folder where you have downloaded platform-tools, and then copy the DerpFest .zip file inside it. Then, open a Command Prompt on your PC, navigate to that same folder, and type:

adb sideload derpfestzipname.zip

This command will take some time, and it will end on 47%. This is completely normal. After this, you're done! Enjoy DerpFest 15 :)
