Denon Home 150: Price and release date
Offside Mobile
A recognized audio and home cinema brand, Denon is out to aim Sonos with its three-strong Home speaker series. The Denon Home 150 is the cheapest of trio available right now, but it packs a nice punch for the money.
Before you get too excited, it's not exactly cheap for a smart speaker, but the Denon Home 150 provides you with lots of options while keeping things simple.
A mono speaker, it features a dual-band Wi-Fi connection coupled with a physical Ethernet port and a USB-A slot for connecting to your hard drive or USB stick. There's also a minijack analog input as well. The one essential item lacking here is optical digital input, but something has to go on a smart speaker priced at $249/£219.
Such versatility continues with its app possibilities. Via the HEOS app, you may connect easily to Spotify, TuneIn Radio, Amazon Music, Deezer, Napster, Soundcloud, Tidal, and other services, with the app changing according to your location.
Neat touches come from the ability to set up playlists across various sources and utilize Google Assistant or Alexa to manage things using your voice. The app is a tad minimalistic looks-wise, but it has all the fundamentals and its style makes its functions more easily accessible — including EQ settings and other customizing options.
Setup is relatively simple, excluding one hitch we experienced when upgrading the Denon Home 150, and in no time at all we’re ready to listen.

The Denon Home 150 sounds quite beefy too. The soundstage is very broad for such a gadget, however, we did wonder what it would be like with two speakers. Besides strong bass at greater levels, you also receive smooth mids and relaxed trebles. A touch more zing would have been good here at the high end, but turn up the volume and you'll look beyond that.
This speaker wants to mix gently in with your lounge décor, but it’ll also function nicely in the kitchen. If you want a compact speaker that doesn't take emphasis yet gives decent playback, the Denon Home 150 is one to check into.

Some of its choices will be overkill if you merely want something to stream music from your phone, but it's good to have such versatility. Digging into your NAS drive's collection won't be essential for everybody, but it's crucial if you're one of those folks.
Through the HEOS app, you'll also be able to control multiroom playback, establishing your own ecosystem of Denon Home speakers around the house, putting you in control wherever you are.
Ultimately, the Denon Home 150 is a lot more fun than your usual smart speaker even if its sound quality doesn't equal the likes of the Sonos One. For a tech lover, somewhat inferior sound quality in return for so much customizing and app possibilities means the Denon Home 150 is a terrific choice.
The Denon Home 150 was introduced back in 2020 but it's kept stable with its pricing of $249/£219/AU$340. At the time of writing, you can get it for £189 direct from Denon UK with similar third-party reductions, but the pricing is quite consistent in the US.
